If you're playing Astroneer and have a suggestion for us, we'd love to hear it! The best way to share that is right here in this sub-forum. You can create the thread however you'd like, but I would suggest:

  1. Making your title straight to the point. E.g. "Three ideas for improving weather gameplay."
  2. We'd love to hear not only your idea, but why you feel its an improvement or the right step for us to take. Basically try and let us in to your thought process behind the idea.
  3. Include whatever images, mock-ups, doodles, videos, and anything else that would help us understand your idea.

First of all, let me start by congratulating the SES Team on creating such a fun and absolutely beautiful game. I watched the documentary made about SES and I was very impressed with the passion and dedication this studio has despite the terrible tragedy that befell them. Thank you for carrying on!

My suggestions- Sylva

1. Water...rivers, lakes, ocean 
2. Wildlife on land and in the air.
3. regrowth of organics ie..grass, flowers, trees etc.
4. If you harvest a tree maybe it can leave a seed behind to replant and growth stages can take place over 30 game days?

+1 on your ideas

On #4  I was always hoping for a time when EXO Dynamics or some other entity wanted the trees. Which would let us have some new machines to harvest them, transport them and ultimately ship them via spaceship!
Maybe they could be traded?
Cut up with the shredder into smaller logs?
I just wish there was more to do with the trees.

PLEASE add multiplayer servers, also add larger homes that you can go inside and store stuff in there. Also add more things to print and more planets and dlcs 

 

Please add bigger homes that you can go in. It would be awesome to actually go inside your base

A simple model of the suit heater (when the temperature is entered).
Our heater will consume energy and protect us from hypothermia. 
A red / green LED indicates the active load on the heater. 
The plate in the interface indicates the current temperature and% of the heater load.

Around the office we've often talked about what player effects/status effects would feel like in our game, and 'Temperature' (atmosphere) could be a fun way to introduce things like that to the game.

I'm collecting seeds and the other organics that are in plants or are found when they are destroyed. There is some really good artwork that went into these and I would love to see these have a purpose as well. Maybe scientists need them at EXO for things on earth or their lab? Maybe multiple new shuttles could be used to ship them? 

I just see that beautiful huge EXO Dynamics spaceship that well, is right now just eye candy. Couldn't there be scientists that would want items from each planet to study? Is that so far out of the realm of possibilities? Wouldn't we need new equipment to gather, transport on the planet, then transport up to the EXO spaceship? We cut the trees down, have to transport them from the forest to the base, maybe we have a cutter of some type, we have to put them onto a new spaceship, when the order is filled the player gets an update! 
This update would have provided:
JumpJets! Deliver 200 trees and earn the small jetpack. Deliver 1000 trees earn the large jetpack. Send up 150 seeds earn the temporary shelter. Send up 300 plants earn the T-storage. Etc, etc, etc. 

Could there be a way for us to 'capture' the shooting plants? Have to put them into special holding containers so they can't shoot. Under glass,with lighting. Then they would need a different type of shuttle to send them up to EXO. 

Soil samples could unlock an update?
Resource samples.....?
Specific parts of crashed spaceships.....?

To me it just seems logical that science would be playing more of a role than just crafting?

All great ideas, for sure. Especially like them for getting use out of the decorators in a way that is meaningful. Nice thinking!

customisation

so ive been a little narked off, why not have the astroneers base have the same theme as my suit? what about the items i make? seems a little strange how my base is a default blue. what about changing the Terrain tool for different suits? also doesnt the tool look a bit big, why not hold it up like a rocket launcher, looks more stable than having a thin rod hold up about 20-30KG... either way id be really happy if these two changes could be applied in the next update.

I love this game. I play it quite a bit, probably more than I should.

After 210 hours of actual game play I have 2 requests:

 

1.  A way to navigate

Full disclosure, I am directionally inept, badly. Like, after living in my apt for 2 years, I got lost for more than 2 hours and i found out that I was mostly driving around in circles about 2 blocks from the apartment. No joke but it is funny now.

  • What I am requesting is a device / machine that just sends out a ping of some kind that requires consent power and all it does it put a blinking colored ping that shows you which direction it is, something like this:

2.  Dedicated Servers

I know you are already working on this. It is, however, it's on my list.

First, I would like to add more complexity. It’s not necessary to basically cut the game, you can in another.I would like to see radiation, corrosive gases and much more.These things could be found in different zones with increased complexity, they may have rarer resources, etc. For example, going into such a zone you would start to lose lives, but to control this, you need to use special devices. This could beat the environment scanners , a geiger counter and special devices to protect the suit from gases. And where did you remove the sandstorms? They were cool, they added a feature, but now they are not (At the moment, in your game, a player can be killed only by his dullness or carelessness, and at least there will be at least some feeling that you are in a terrible space.

The second idea is an exosuit.Imagine how cool it is to walk through a cave with a large built-in tank of soil, with an oxygen tank, with a battery and a slightly larger inventory. This would add a little more opportunities for cave mining, mobility and survivability.

Well, the third is more ruins with which you could interact and would like to add the function of restoring objects. Also, I would like to add a metal detector to find them underground.Areas of increased complexity, exoskeleton (exosuit), more ruins and interaction with them.

У меня есть идея по технологиям, вот в игре есть малый генератор и средний, а большого нет, есть малая и средняя ветротурбина, а большой нет, есть малый и средний контейнер, а большого нет, есть только малый кислородный бак, а среднего и большого нет. Понимаете к чему я веду? Было бы интересно увидеть ещё больше технологий, а то их как-то мало. А ещё было бы не плохо если бы в огромном шредере ( в том, который делается на большом принтере ) можно было бы разобрать шатлы, а то я сделал самый большой шатл и мне мешают малый и средний шатл и вообще в шредере можно было бы разобрать любой транспорт, а то я уже на большом планетоходе езжу, а средний планетоход и трактор некуда девать. А вообще игра отличная, планет много, обилие ресурсов, классная музыка, играю в astroneer с большим удовольствием, желаю удачи разработчикам и жду новых обновлений.

Hola!!! Quería poner una idea. Estaría bien si en xbox o ps4, astroneer se pudiera jugar multijugador en la misma videoconsola, a parte del multijugador en línea,  no se si me explico, básicamente, multijugador a pantalla dividida en la misma consola. También estaría bien que pusierais una demo del juego, para probarlo antes de comprarlo. Bueno, muchas gracias.

Can you please make the Salvage event able to launch larger salvage into space If we can use repacked items we come across it would allow us to obtain more then 40 points per launch seems like it would take several days to achieve that goal.

I must say it frankly. This game as an enormous potential. I say that because I think it's missing ONE thing that would make this game truly amazing. It's missing the one thing that make me not want to come back and enjoy it fully... wiring @astroneergame. The foundation for wiring is there, @astroneergame , it's there. So much potential is wasted because no form of wiring is there. The platform where you go in it and it activate ? Cool, but useless because it's only there. If only there was wiring so I can connect it to other. See this firework field (WIP) ? If only there was some wiring so I can connect all of them together which would allow me, with the press of a SINGLE button, launch them all and enjoy it. Without it, I can't launch all of them, have time to distance myself and enjoy it. If only there was wiring, so I could do some cool lighting setup which, on the press of a button, could light up in some way. Combined with logic gate, I could make a calculator, a computer, all of that in Astroneer. ONLY if there was WIRING. Please @astroneergame , add wiring.

I miss the old days so much... that I cannot play the actual game as I used to play :(

We need these things back:

1) High trees with research high on them

2) HUGEEEEE planets to rollllll easily with rovers

3) Caves you can rolllllll with rovers EASILY

4) Soils with the original blue, orange, pink ans rose colors; green and brown like are SO much a reminder of Earth and it doesn't look much as alien planets in my opinion.

I miss so much rolling on huge planets (putting the clouds so high in the sky to not notice how small are now the planets isn't very hard to notice)

I really miss the old days.

I agree that I waste a ton of time now trying to find a path to drive without a ton of useless fauna and pit falls everywhere. I miss the storms, it was the only undodgeable element of danger, and it would blow away anything not locked down. I still want an interior base. Like a home inside with spots for gear and equipment. big enough for its own printers etc, and research tubes, more a home atmosphere dome or something.

I see that many like me would like to have storms back in the game, or at least the option to turn them on or off when creating a new save.  The environmental threats would add a layer of complexity to the gameplay with many possibilities for additional mechanics to be implemented over time such as temperature, radiation, technologies to defend by them and weed vegetation carried by the wind that can grow around the base perhaps sucking energy or oxygen or blocking the tools if  it is not deleted.  All this could also be implemented in a hardcore mode or actually inhospitable additional planets (in which storms are more frequent) also through a DLC that I imagine many would be willing to buy if the biggest problem is the economic return of a detailed development of a system  climate that presents various hazards and difficult to counter if not adequate preparation or protected underground bases

Spacial station
To be able to build a space station orbiting around a planet, that can be assembled by parts, that can investigate meteorites and certain compositions of the planet, this can earn research points or strange materials, a spacewalk would also be good. The same space station can be made up of propellers with which you can travel to other planets. 

It would be another form of exploration and can be added as a DLC.
