Some polite suggestions and requests

Hello team, I was wondering if it would be possible to look into or consider the following;

  • Smarter auto arm: allow the auto arm to utilise the entire platform it is attached to and not just the area in its target like any other machine can do.
  • Printing multiple items: allow the user to input the number of items they want printed, for example set the printer to print 10 of something instead of having to stand there and hit print every time even when all the resources are there available for the printer to use.
  • Platform Linking: in addition to linking power and air supplies, give the option to link the platforms in terms of resources as well so that you could have multiple platforms next to each other supplying a single machine.
  • First person POV: even if this is only an option when using vehicles this would greatly improve the experience of driving the large rover for example, where if you have a large storage unit on the next section you really can't see where you are going. this especially makes using the drill / paver combo quite difficult.
  • Power switches: a simple item that you could put between two platforms to disconnect the power supply to entire sections with one button. for example if you have a large smelting area, rather than using multiple button repeaters to turn the smelters off or have to disconnect individual power lines within an area you could just hit the switch.
  • Railings / Markers: something to mark out where user made holes and ramps are so that you don't accidentally drive into them from the wrong side etc.
  • Signage: simple signs to point you in the right direction, whether it be to resources or back to base.
  • Localised beacons: Placeable beacons that are not visible from orbit so as not to confuse landing sites.
  • A surface map / GPS: given we can navigate between planets it seems strange that we can't see where we have been on a planets surface.
  • Two-way extenders: at the moment you have to dictate which direction an extender sends power. It would be advantageous if these worked in both directions like the small generators or work lights do.
  • Interplanetary Freight: the ability to build a freight rocket to ship resources between planets without having to leave yourself.

Many thanks for taking the time to read.

Leon.

I love the idea of platform linking. To a certain extent that was how automation was displayed pre EA and I'm disappointed we just some fairly limited auto arms instead. Pre EA the cable links between platforms were actually conveyor belts. I would love to see that return, potentially as an upgrade option mid to late game. In fact upgrade options in general would be fantastic. Speeding up smelters for example, with an upgrade that uses more power. It would allow much more compact bases overall and be self limiting by available materials to create/store power

Railings I'd also love, in fact make them carry power and oxygen and have lights (why oh why do extenders not have lights on them?). Consider them an upgrade from extenders. That way they can be barriers on roads/bridges and allow somewhat remote auto extractors

Also completely agree on two way extenders, another perfect example of something that could benefit from an upgrade system using later game materials. Could be as simple as upgrade slots available in machine panels when pressing F on them
