elia.scuffi 0 Share Posted December 1, 2018 is good idea for space station a solar pannel for you base and you can store energy in battery and take for your planet base
Astrofun 0 Share Posted December 3, 2018 Yes this would be amazing, but what would a practical application be? I dont understand how the refueling thing would work because it takes the same amount of energy to send fuel in its own ship up to space as I does to have it in your ship. Asteroid mining? Ultra large scale transport to another planet? amazing solar power? (No atmosphere=better solar efficiency) My personal fav. Is asteroid mining, kind of jumping from rock to rock and getting abundant resources.

Only one station is allowed per planet. You could bring up extra Hydrazine and attach it to slots near the landing pad.

Asteroid mining would be amazing, being able to go from asteroid to asteroid to get resources and making space a more necessary thing even more than it already is. And making spaceships bigger and allowing easier base building on other planets!
Jjandrah 0 Share Posted December 9, 2018 I'm not sure this fits. What would you do there? Asteroid mining would end up feeling like a second game was tacked on to the existing one. I suppose what does make sense is returning you to the station that you see at the main menu. The only action you'd do here is cosmetic changes to your character - change your suit, change the color theme for buildings/modules you print, etc. Perhaps even go full TF2 and sell hats. Space hats. Yes, yes, monitization sucks, but developers are people too and food costs money.
Ghostwolf93 0 Share Posted December 25, 2018 I can think of one VERY important reason for a space station: acting as a construction yard of building an interstellar spacecraft. I've mentioned it before, if System Era wants to introduce new planets post 1.0, they could create new solar systems that we could travel to via such a craft. Such spacecraft would naturally be much larger than anything we have access to currently, so it makes sense that it would be something that would have to be built in pieces in space. You'd have to fuel it (Astronium as a fuel source?), plus have the ability to pack provisions for establishing a new base in another system, as well as having the capacity to dock at least one Shuttle for 'shuttling' between the spacecraft and the planets. The overall Spacecraft design could even be modular, like the rovers, allowing you to tailor it to what you want to bring with you (expanded fuel reserves for multiple trips, larger storage, room for more than one Shuttle, etc).
