We Need Answers For The FPS Drop Problem

Recommended Posts

Hello to the Astroneer Developers

First of all I'd like to say thank you for the amazingness of the game. I think it is much better than another well known open world game with cubes in it and it deserves to shine.

But I'm not here to tell all the aspects why I love your game.

I'm here to tell you a very bad reason of why I'm probably going to refund your game soon.

So I started playing it yesterday and I loved it at first. I had some troubles understanding all things but after some 1 hour I was ready to explore the whole world.

I started putting tethers one by one in order to go further in my exploration.

But after about 1 hour of exploring, I realized my FPS had dropped significantly.

I then closed all of my programs that were opened and tried restarting the game.

But after all the effort, it did not change anything...

I think my computer is like 2 years old so I understand technology evolves fast but still I find it very weird.

I then connected to this forum and saw that I was not the only one experiencing this.

So I just ask you today if we can get a real answer about this, if you saw our threads and if you are looking for a fix.

Thanks for reading my words and have a nice day or night.

Please keep in mind the game is still pre-alpha and has only, at the time of this post, been out 1 week. The dev team has already put out a number of patches to fix the FPS issue. Everyones issue can/is different and they are trying to isolate all the issues. Please send a bug report or join over in the Patch notes mega thread to read more about it.

Dude the game is in  PRE-ALPHA you did not read before buying? When you buy a pre-alpha game you're giving developers support to continue developing and fixing the game and you can not expect a perfect game !!

So be patient, fixing patches are coming out frequently the game is only in version 0.2

Hi Payno_Attention. I realised afterward when going to sleep that I was exagerating. I just wanted to have a real answer about officials and I kinda over reacted because my eyes were burning after 4 hours of gaming at 25FPS...

Hi Kygar, I understand you don't like caps but I think it's more viewable if a title is written with caps on. But ok I did use yoir tutorial to keep it off.

Thanks for your answers guys

On a personal note, whole words written in caps actually hurt my eyes and are harder to read. Also it comes over as a pretty aggressive demand.

However, if you like to, I can fix your title. :D

@Wyvyrias I do understand people understand it as an aggressive demand BUT it was not the purpose.. I would be less ashamed if you fixed my title. Or just delete the post as there is nothing important in it. Just do what you want, you got the keys!

No worries, we understand you want to play without any pesky performance issues. The developers are trying their best to fix this asap!

And I fixed the title for you. Reasonable feedback doesn't need to be deleted. ;)

@Wyvyrias Thanks for fixing the title! After reading my post again, I really felt like it would be understand as trash talk lol... I did not want that! I think it is because english is not my native language so  the wording is not very smart... Anyway, I am trying to report all the bugs I am seeing. Have a nice evening and see you another time!

I had my game go from 60-75fps to 25fps after a patch, I bit the bullet and reinstalled and it didn't fix it. I then deleted all my saves and reinstalled the game and it fixed it. There's also a memory leak, after playing for a while the fps will drop, sometimes a restart fixes this. Patches may break old saves or cause new problems. Don't get too attached to a save or planet as unless you wanna be stuck in the patch your in now forever further progress may break your save.

The only time I get FPS drops is when I start a new save and land on a new planet. I'm running on a mid-tier PC and I can get 60FPS most of the time.

On a relatively high-end gaming system (6700k + GTX1080 + 16gb RAM) and my game suddenly became bogged down. FPS dropped to 10-15 midway while trying to escape a storm in a cavern, got back to camp but the whole game was still bogged down.
