"197 - Hotfix" - July 28th, 2017

Astroneer's Pre-Alpha Early Access version has just been updated to 0.3.10197.0 (Patch "197")

Steam 'Early Access' users will receive this update immediately. 
Xbox 'Play Anywhere' players can expect this patch to hit their consoles or Windows 10 machines in the next 48 hours.

This hotfix focuses on fixing some known issues for Xbox "Play Anywhere" users, as well as fixes for both platforms. 

As always, the team would like to thank everyone supporting Astroneer in early access, especially for sharing bugs, inspiration, stories, videos, and streams with us and the rest of our amazing community.

UPDATES

You can find these updates in 197, the current build of the game.

  • The effects of storms have now been scaled down. They will still cause things to blow away, but your rovers will now no longer be in perilous danger whenever the wind blows. 

This was an unintentional side effect of the engine upgrade, but we liked it and wanted to see what people thought. Unfortunately this resulted in many lost rovers and items. The effect storms now have has still increased overall, but is much less than what it was in 196.

FIXES

The following bugs are now fixed. Thank you to everyone in the community who has reported and shared details with us on these issues.

  • Upon death, ghost Astroneer corpses appear at your base. 
  • When basebuilding, conduits stray of of their intended path when resin is placed on them
  • In MP games, Host players will see worklights  illuminated for themselves and Client players, but Client players will not see the light
  • Issue where the transform of an object moving into the backpack isn't set correctly, resulting in the item appearing inside the Astroneer

Thanks for the update :D.  I know it was not mentioned in the fixes but was Client players in MP crashes to desktop fixed ?

I have always experienced my rovers and trucks being exxtremly heavy when with and without carrying objects. This means that they have always driven intredibly slow and if I were to hit a rock or drive off a cliff, the rover or truck would catch an insane amount of aor and take maybe 3-10 seconds to touch ground again, falling or not. I guess the RF/LP (Rover Flight/Levitation Program) is still a thing then. Maybe next update.

Could you investigate multiplayer crashing? I was playing with my friend and crashed multiple times (I was not host my friend was).

Also I found a bug where when I spawn in when joining my friend's game, my launch pod goes straight through the ground and I get stuck in a cave (and usually die).

Windows 8.1 - Steam - Pc

My game continues with patch 196 error! Whenever I access the "Options" menu, when I enter a saved game, and when I go back to the "main menu", the game crashes and the unreal screen appears!

Does this fix the problem where when trying to build a new part of the base for the 1 resin the new part would snap into a different place than where you actually want to build it?

For the next update add so that on xbox one people dont lag out of Astroneer when u are joining a friend and are playing.

The game crashed in the menu, it is impossible to load the save.

Base conduit is fixed - *whew* that was annoying.

Research is still annoying - would much prefer to get "needed" items early, rather than drill heads and 3-seat-enclosed and cranes.  It also seems once you have unlocked 80% of the blueprints, you now have a long grind to get the remaining items.  I've given up on games to start anew often, because critical things like medium storage, solar panel, medium battery can't be unlocked (or require another 100 crates to get there).  I think it's ok to get one or two items you don't need early, but in some games you never get the small critical items until waaaaay too late.  I'd say that's work revisiting.

Not fixed it still crashes to desktop after the hot fix 197 clean install new game first crash after about 30 min second crash about 15 min later. gave up after that. Also research cant be picked up underground, have to walk away and come back for it then I can pick it up. does not happen all the time it is random.

Aw!!  I liked it when rovers were blown away.  :)   Though, I think tethering them to a base should keep them from blowing away.  Just the loose rovers should blow away.

Thank you for fixing base conduits extending the wrong direction. Now I can have another go at Astroneer after not playing for almost 2 months.

Same problem for me, makes the game absolutely unplayable with multi-player. Since my game crashes within 5 minutes of rejoining. I loose oxygen tanks, batteries, and anything I'm carrying. Was hoping the hot fix would actually fix major issues like it's intended to... Honestly I could live with the 4 things they fixed, but a game crash to loose an hour of progress kills the game

I've crashed to desktop twice with this patch, even though I've never experienced crashes before.  Once I got the nice crash dialog and told it to send in a report, and in the other case the game just froze.  I had to kill it from Task Manager.

Windows 7 Core i7, 24GB memory, GTX 780
