More terrain options & brushes.

Have you ever used the level builder in 'Far Cry Instincts: Evolution'? If not, you should check it out. The terrain editor was amazing and worked very similar to the way the terrain tool works in Astroneer. It gave nearly perfect control by letting the player build hills, mounds, square blocks, etc. Raise and lower terrain flat or into hills or pits. Build slopes and smooth surfaces. Also change the size and shape of the brush.

The terrain tool is cool. But it is difficult to use well and lacks many features. Maybe some ideas can be gleaned from FCI:E's terrain editor.

Just thought this might be useful.

Yep,

  • Adjustable brush size
  • Adjustable brush shape (circle, square, triangle)
  • Brush to raise or lower terrain with flat center.
  • Brush to raise or lower terrain with rounded center.
  • Brush to raise or lower terrain with peaked/pointed/coned center.
  • Brush to add or dig terrain (we already have this)
  • Brush to level terrain (we have this but it has some bugs)
  • Brush to build ramps (always 22.5* or 45* slopes)
  • Brush allows to lock terrain level to set elevation. (while using tool an elevation meter shows. This shows the distance in meters from the average elevation of the planet in + or - meters. Or show the elevation from the core.)
  • Use Alt + Scroll Wheel to cycle through sizes.
  • Use Ctrl + Scroll Wheel to cycle through shapes.
  • Use Shift + Scroll Wheel to cycle through functions.
  • On Xbox use D-pad left-right to select size, shape, type; then scroll through with up and down.

These could be researchable modifications to the Supervactool. And should use more energy (slightly) than the standard Supervactool mode.

Maybe be an upgraded unit?

Maybe there is a machine that is required to unlock these abilities? Like an excavator/earthmover or something.

Actually maybe this could be a separate tool from the terraformer. Instead of just adding to this tool, make it a researchable tool that is only for terraforming and cannot collect things like the regular vacutool thing.
