  1. The reason I really want to suggest this is because when me and my friend play we like exploring. Although we find it hard to set up connecting bases of operations around a planet. We like going into caves, mining everything we can find. As well as gathering as much research as we can. The problem comes when we get full we either have to run all the way back to the base or if we have our rovers with us we try and get them out of the cave. (I don’t know about y'all but getting the rovers out can be a pain depending on how deep you are, and if you have a smooth path. and if you cave connecting rovers it can be much harder.) My solution is having the ability to have a train system. This way it can make it easier to get from one place to the next fast and easy. (as long as you place the tracks effectively.) This system can work for exploring underground or connecting different bases on a planet together. Pros: -Fast and easy travel -Can hold as much as a truck -Can have multiple carts (maybe max of 3-4?) -Hovers over rails so its smoother then a rover -Has rails so you can set out the exact path to take (with a rover you could accidentally crash into a small ravine or fall in a cave. Thus, having to dig yourself out) Cons: -Expensive (could cost 4 titanium per cart and 2 titanium per set of rails? Making this more of a late game item. Also adding to the grind having to mine more and trading things more so you can get the materials you need) -Only goes from one point to another, no free exploring. (still have to use rovers early game) -More power hungry so your base will have to have sustainable energy. Possibilities: -Could probably have a system of rails connecting multiple points. (instead of point to point it could take multiple routs.) -Rails could carry power to train so along as the base has power your train has power. (unlike rovers where you have to use up a slot for a solar panel, or something to keep it powered.) -Could have different levels of trains. (like the rover/ truck and the small/big shuttle) -Could have a specific platform like a docking station instead of using the vehicle bay (this way the rails don’t get in the way of the ships and the rovers.) -could hold a drill so you someone can dig out a path while a friend sets up the rails. I personally think this would be an amazing addition to the game. Let me know what you think? Would this help you out in gameplay? How would you make it better? This is the updated version of the train based off of the new rovers that came to the game. They can still use some work with the design but this is what i have so far. (all 3D models and textures where created by me Killershadow115) Sorry for the late update been busy. Here is a refined version based on the new rover model they have. I hope they add something like this to the game or if they allow modding I’ll be happy to provide all the models and textures necessary to whoever wants to mod it in, if that time ever comes.

    Air Transportation

    I think the transportation options in-game are pretty bland (no offence game devs, great game btw), I was thinking how great it would be to have air vehicles that you can fly yourself, ex. Helicopter, or an airplane. Imagine flying a helicopter over to a friend who got the rover stuck in a hole and having to airlift him and the rover out of the hole. I was thinking for these vehicles to be very late game because of how op having them at the start would be.
  4. I would like to see Portals worked in the game. They would look similar to "Stargate"portals, and you could set them up near your bases on multiple planets and you could teleport back and forth more easily then traveling with ships. Of course you would first travel to the planets to place them. If the developers could program them so you would instantly pop to other portals without a load screen would make it all the more effective. I imagine them looking like stargate portals, with arrow selection like the printer has. You would choose for which portal you want to travel to. Maybe they would require crystals that you must find throughout the planets to operate (This would give players who already have everything unlocked something to search for.) Also I imagine finding ancient portals on planets that you might find, and it would teleport you to some random planets once you found crystals to use them.

    Monorails

    How cool would it be to have monorails, or at least train systems (the monorails staying with the futuristic theme)? Rather than having to drive a rover over, worrying about holes, caves, etc., a monorail could transport you or your materials to and from your base to different locations. The construction could be as simple as building the main compartment, as well as the track and legs to hold the track up.

    Veichle customization

    I was thinking you could start off with basic parts of a rover researched then as time goes on you could unlock new and better parts (how i let other people decide) then in the veichle station you place the parts and a bit of resources and it fabricates the veichle with a nice looking animation, and bam custom veichle also later you can disassemble it for the parts but you will loose the extra materials you spent to fabricate it. ideas for parts: bigger wheels better suspension more storage more power SPEED IS KEY

    TRANSPORTATION

    I love to use the Rovers to get around, but sometimes it can be slow going and hard to get places. So here is my idea. What about a vehicle that allows for much faster transportation? Obviously it should have ridiculously low/no storage space because that would render the other vehicles useless. However it would allow for much faster travel for individual players. Im thinking it would look a lot like a motorcycle. If it can travel fast enough, it could make large jumps over ravines or in-between hills/cliffs. The jumps would be almost drifting or flying through the air. This would be INCREDIBLY USEFUL on planets like Exotic for example. Getting places on Exotic is incredibly difficult and a form of transportation like this would be infinitely worth it. Because its so great, it would probably need to be made of a valuable resource like titanium or lithium, but oh how AWESOME it would be! What do you guys think?

    Road System

    Considering how bumpy the terrain is on most of the planets' surfaces with all the rocks and stuff, a feature that implements a road-building system would be nice. As amusing as watching my truck tumble on is, it can get frustrating too..

    Upgrades!!

    Pretty much I made this post with the entire idea of "Jetpack" Now that I am actually writing this, I have gotten a few more ideas. The backpack is amazing as it already is and it doesn't need much improving except for an upgrade slot. There would be a machine called an upgrade machine and it would make like speed upgrades for vehicles or jetpack upgrades for the backpack. Of course the jetpack would just use power so it wouldn't be broken. There should be a strength upgrade to the Astroneer that allows him to jump while holding large items like research capsules. The vehicles should also have battery upgrades where you use lithium. (A little bit like the actual battery in game except it doesn't take up any slots). There are so many cool an interesting upgrades things could have. You could add a "Automatic trail" upgrade so when you make rover caravans you aren't constantly annoyed by the fact that it just sits there and you have to get in moving before it works. The shuttle and spaceship should also have some upgrades like an upgrade that increases its fuel capacity or an upgrade that is like a chest on a rocket so you can take stuff with you. Just ideas. Please Consider! So just a recap on upgrade ideas: Astroneer: Jetpack Strength Upgrade Vehicles: Battery Auto-Trail Specifically Rocket: Storage Upgrades If anyone has ideas to add to these lists then please comment down below and I will add them to the list!
  12. Connecting bases with pipes, providing quick resource transportation. Items from storage pluged into PNEUMATIC POST PLATFORM A could be see as holograms at PLATFORM B. Then, if the gas tank at PLATFORM A is filled and energy is provided (either form A or B side), the container/s with selected resource is/are send. Travel along pipe network should take some time, but overall should be fast.
  13. Hi, I've had an idea for a rail system to add to end-game transportation options. I would presume it to be somewhat expensive to create, as it would great speed up travel times to a given location, and possibly for being used as a mine-cart system The idea for monorail came into mind when i was trying to think of ideas that would fit the general theme of Astroneer. The monorail would fit perfectly with Astoneer's retro-futuristic/Space-agey aesthetic. The function, in my head, would behave very basically. Forward backward based on the camera (but preferably the position of the seat that you would build onto the train car). Tracks would be built on a individual basis using advanced materials (maybe a use for iron???) or composite materials (Say, Aluminum and copper or titanium and copper) in the 3D printer. Tracks could be laid down in a similar, though more intuitive fashion than base building. Power could be provided either directly through the tracks or, basically, in the train car itself. (like powering a truck) This could also lead to a new type of workstation module such as a depot, where monorails could be built and connected to the base's power grid. I also prefer this idea, as it would allow you to have better power-management over your new advanced system if you didn't want to resort to onboard batteries or similar power-supplies. Also, power distribution could work in a similar way to the fact that vehicles can move power between two separate bases to avoid any conflicts. (so the rail system would act as a giant power pipe in a sense.) Feel free to expand on this idea, or lay down some constructive criticisms. =)

    New transportation.

    I would love to see something like a train track in Astroneer. Something to transport you and maybe some storage. It could have train cars, each holding the same amount as the rover. Could supply oxygen, and the more train cars you have attached, the slower it goes.
  15. What I think would be cool in the game is the ability to create oil wells. These will be created how printers and smelteries are created. It will require 2 copper to be made. The machine will give the player petroleum which can be used for crafting, on vehicles, or on parking spaces. You could craft large (2 space) or small (1 space) petroleum containers. Another thing I think would be good is parking spaces. A thing that would be added is limited fuel on vehicles and you could fill it up with small petroleum containers. Another way you could fill it up is with parking spaces. A parking space acts like a gas station which the gas pumper is fueled by small or large petroleum containers. If a vehicle is in the parking space, it is filled up. You can also connect your oil well to the parking space.
  16. It is really inconvenient to try and haul the rover/rover train over to a mining site. I find a lot of unknown research modules, and it is extremely inconvenient to haul each module back one by one. It would be great to see some sort of minecart system in which you build tracks with compound, aluminum, etc., and you can place the module on the cart to be hauled back. The cart or cart station could be powered, so it is possible to run out of power for the system to fail. There could be a cart station placed at the habitat and tracks running from that station to wherever you want it to go. The player could even jump in the cart to create some sort of alternative transportation method.
