  1. Astroneer Backup Hi everyone! I decided to make this backup tool for Astroneer after seeing all the posts about corrupted or unplayable saves, which I've also dealt with. I'm still new to development, so this is by far the biggest project I've worked on. Let me know what you think, and feel free to provide any constructive criticisms or bug reports. Download Astroneer Backup Version 1.2 EXE Clean Scan PS1 Clean Scan Made by Xech Written for Astroneer 1.0.15.0 on Steam - Authored April 2019 What does this do? This tool backs up Astroneer saves while Astroneer is running. When Astroneer closes, it stops watching for changes. You can choose how long you want backups to be kept. The Astroneer install is not changed in any way by this tool. When saves are backed up, they're copied here: %userprofile%\Saved Games\AstroneerBackup How do I use it? - Astroneer Backup is best run from the .EXE. - The .PS1 is included if you'd like to examine the code. - It must be run as Administrator. It will try to ensure this. - To enable backup, type 1 and Enter at the Main Menu. - To disable backup, type 2 and Enter at the Main Menu. - To open the backup folder, type 3 and Enter at the Main Menu. - Backups are kept for 30 days by default. 10 backups are always kept. - Backup will only work if this appears in the Main Menu: Backup ENABLED: True How does it work? - A backup folder and backup script are created. - A scheduled task is created that invokes the script. - The task is triggered when the Astro.exe is launched. - The backup script copies .savegame files when changed. - Backups older than the backup lifetime are deleted. 2. You guys should really add a reaching augment to the terrain gun

  4. dont know if i'll explain this very well, so, sorry ahead of time. when the terrain tool is on the ground it puts the reticle down on the level your on. In the new moon update. Its a little different. I found if I have no ground underneath me, the tools reticle will go through the floor I'm standing on. Then it reaches down to the ground thats underneath if I'm not on solid ground. rather than being on the same level as me it goes through the floor I'm on. hope that makes sense and helps
  5. i suggest a new attachment for the landscaping tool the attachment that makes it easier to make walls or falls like you can select the angle you want to build with and that's the angle it builds like if you select 90 degrees then the only angle you can build with is 90 degrees or even 50 degrees than the same thing happens you can only build on a 50 degree angle, it would make it so much easier and less frustrating to build walls and floors, and its an attachment so its optional to have on or not.

    "Flat" button combo

I think a combo like Shift alt or control alt making an absolute "level" would be a good thing. Same for 90 degree walls
  7. Playing on Laptop with Mouse Launcher: Steam Switch my tool with E to put it back on the backpack, but instead it bugged in the ground and everytime I switch with E it goes back in the ground. Using Ctrl and Alt didn't change anything. Didn't try to restart the game, because the game wasn't lagging or something else. Its in the ground but dont attache at this point, it moves with the character, so no problem to continue the game.
  8. The Bionic Cyclist

    Monolith creation tool

Like the other tool mods, only this one only creates perfect right angles. I watch Z1 Gaming a fair bit and emulate some of his ideas and the biggest problem is always creating perfectly flat walls, floors and ceilings.
  9. Summary: 200 - Steam - Truck Glitched Into Terrain Description: Hard to explain this one, but I made a video. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-mZhjWpKsl_M3VRWm9qSXRpTFk Basically what happens is this: I'm on Arid planet, trying to use the terrain flatten tool to cover over some holes i made (health and safety was yelling at me for leaving them open and then falling into them repeatedly). But when I hold control for the flatten mode, then click and drag, the mouse moves smoothly along the ground in one axis, but then skips around on the other axis like its snapping to some kind of grid, leaving large gaps untouched in between. So far it's only happening on the Arid planet for me. The video I posted has the inhibitor mod equipped on the terrain tool, but the bug occurs both with and without mods attached. I just used it here so you could more easily see the snapping it's doing by showing it on an already-flat surface. As indicated in the video, movement is normal when using the raise and lower mode, only the flatten mode seems to skip around as you can see the mouse cursor move in a circle while the ground reticle only moves left to right smoothly but skips forward and backward by a large margin. Platform: Steam Version / Build Number: 200 Specifications: OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 | v. 1703 | Build 15063.540 CPU: Intel i7 2700K 3.5GHz GPU: GTX 970 4GB RAM: 12GB (3x 4GB DDR3 1066Hz) Drive: Seagate ST2000DM001 2TB SATA
  10. Hey everyone! Love the new updates to gameplay, and i love the tutorial! I found a small bug that i've seen in the past that reappeared. I like to flatten out the area around my base and, as you can see in the picture, there is a small gap around the immobile rock of home base and it won't let me fill it there. has anyone else seen this problem elsewhere in the game?

    Landing Site Terrian Divet

I’m pretty sure original you could flatten out your base with the terrain tool, and it would be nice and smooth. However now that I came back after a few updates this happens when you try to make it flat. A small divet surrounds the landing site now matter what. I even tried to rise the soil, but nothing happen.
  12. I had to make an arrangement in my base and I covered the floor with gray, but I did not like it , so I decided to learn how to use the augmentation module of our personal excavation tool, this module is called "terrain analyzer", and I discovered that it is a powerful improvement !! For those who still do not know how to use it, we have to add it to our tool after researching it and making it, and then collect only the color we want to use, until the meter is visibly filled and a sound is heard then all the ground add, will be that color, and everything we collect, will be only that color, not altering or picking up the others! I still have to try this module together with the inhibition module, in order to be able to paint without deforming the ground. This is really great !!!

    Thruster and large rover

This is my first time reporting bugs so I am sorry for anything missed out When I put hydrazine on the thruster which is on my rover I do not have enough time to get in the rover and I launches off with out me.
  15. I kinda' get annoyed at the giant holes in the ground from when I dig resources, we need a tool to make the ground look like it did before, instead of the flattening tool.

    Alignment mod

Is there any way you can make the alignment tool work the same way on ceilings as it does on the ground beneath your feet? When I point the tool at the ground by my feet with the alignment tool attached and then hold CTRL it works as expected. It levels the ground around me to the height I began at. When I point it at the ceiling the white dots stretch out and it no longer flattens horizontal to the ground below. If it worked this way, creating "garages" and such would be much easier.

    Mod Hot Key

First, this comes from a console perspective but I see no reason a keyboard hot-key couldn't be handled the same way. What I would like is to be able to easily switch mods in and out of the top slot on the terrain tool. My suggestion is do a mod wheel like ESO does their quick slot. For example, if the hot key would be D-Pad UP, then holding it down brings up a wheel of mods you have available. And you select one using the stick. Now when you tap D-Pad UP it would mount that mod on the top of the terrain tool. If anything was there, it goes whereever that other mod came from. And it now becomes the D-Pad UP mod. Tapping D-Pad UP again would then put the old mod back, and return whats there to inventory and again redefine the D-Pad UP. This means D-Pad Up now becomes a quick swap. Its use I see mainly with terrain analyzer and inhibitor. PITA to swap these in and out having to drag crap around in the backpack. A quick, defineable button press really would streamline the process significantly.
  18. Summary: 199 - Steam - Terrain Analyzer Augment display isn't working properly Description: All my Terrain Analyzer Augments aren't showing the terrain colour I have analyzed (to completion) and show a black bar instead of a coloured one as they did before. I think this only happened after I loaded a save, because I remember seeing the bar fill up and showing the correct colours! Here is a picture showing two of these augments in my backpack, both work properly when I paint the terrain (one in blue and one in orange, respectively) but as you can see the bars show up black, either sitting in my backpack or attached to the tool. Platform: Steam Version / Build Number: 0.3.10200.0 Specifications: OS: Windows 10 x64 CPU: Intel Core i5- 3230M @ 2.6GHz GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7600M Series RAM: 8gb
  19. After playing longer sessions of Astroneer, found that my Hand get's quite some strain from pressing and holding the left mouse button to use the terrain deforming tool. Up to a point where I have to stop playing and even using the mouse for click-intensive tasks for a while. So I would like to see a TOGGLE option for that (which should also work for the drill head). Just some quality of life improvement, but I think an important one. Getting a pain in the hand should not be the top reason to stop playing. And just in case someone thinks I'm a special case: I use a mouse 8 hours a day at work and a couple of hours for gaming at home with no problems. So it's not like I have a general susceptibiity. It's just the repeated prolonged holding of the mouse button which causes this.
  20. Whenever I play with friends (Xbox one) I lose my crosshair on my terrain tool so I cannot use my tool. I have To leave and rejoin. Please fix this bug.

    New and better building aspects

I would love to see a different or at least better building aspect in the game. The basic habitat and nodule devices is very limited. I am thinking about being able to build walls and doors or just compartments in general to protect from storms and to keep loose objects from flying into space. Maybe add a new tool that is expensive to build so it can't be done too early on. This tool would be able to build the walls, doors, windows, etc. I just think it would add to the game and give it a new aspect and something to work on.

    Terrain Gun/tool

So with you terrain gun, I'd love to see another option along side the raise, lower, smooth, a tool that sets the height of the ground so that you can create nice flat surfaces and you can use the arrow pad up and down to set height, also clicking r3 for example would change it from circle to square (your cross hair per say) and another one would be diameter size change on you're "cross hair"

    New tool idea

2 words... Heat Beam. Now i know what you all are thinking, "thats just a laser beam and they said NO WEAPONS". Though I think I've thought out a clever way to make it more of a tool with some defensive capabilities. The Heat Beam Upgrade for your tool could be used to harvest some specific plantlife you would normally be unable to or to melt through super hard rock when digging. Could be used to harvest a super rare and very hard mineral/ore. Heat Beam could also maybe be the tool needed to "destroy" or melt down a piece of your base so you can build something different. When fauna are introduced and if there are hostiles, heat beam could be used for defense to ward off(or kill?) hostile fauna. When using Heat Beam on other players it would have NO EFFECT. Unless maybe to simply heat each other up in cold climates (if/when climates are introduced).

    Excavator

I have a suggestion. While I was browsing the interwebs, I stumbled upon a picture. This is a tank/excavation tool. Before I say anything i just was to say that I did NOT make this render and am showing because I feel it need recognition, the maker of this image is Quiznos32; if you want to view the original post click here.
  25. Terraforming is one fun aspect of the game, but achieving the required angle on a voxel to smooth into shape can be pretty hit or miss. Allowing the user to set the angle would open up a minecraft-esq communiy of terrain formers. The creativity could be endless...
