  1. Did some unexpected weird bug occur? Perhaps you accidentally fell down a really deep hole and died? Maybe you lost some really hard to obtain resources that you don't want to remake again? Normally there is nothing you can do, you HAVE to accept your fate and start over, as there is no option to Quit Without Saving. And because Astroneer does not allow you to have more than one save file, there is no way to just exit the game normally and load a previous save file. (Which you can do on practically EVERY OTHER GAME. (Why only one save file? (This is such derp on the developer's part.))) , Pushing the power button probably won't help you, because Astroneer will do a "clean shutdown" ... which likely includes saving your screwed-up game. Nope, we have to be sneaky and kill Astroneer suddenly before it can attempt to save the game. There are some options... The most drastic solution... yank the power cord on your device! Not a great idea for Windows if you had other programs running in the background, but probably the XBox will tolerate it okay, as it is a consumer device that has to be able to handle such abuse. The less drastic solution on Windows is to Kill the game program using the Task Manager, which will force it to abruptly stop what it is doing without saving. There are two ways to get to the Task Manager: Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete, and a list of choices will appear. At the bottom of the list is the Task Manager. Select it. Or, In the game press the Windows key, and the Windows task bar will appear across the bottom of the screen. Somewhere in the blank area of the task bar, press the right mouse button and a menu of choices will appear. Near the bottom of this menu, select the item named Task Manager. If you've never used Task manager before, it just show you a list of running programs, one of which is named "Astro". Click on it to select it, and then in the bottom right corner, click button End Task. Astroneer will close suddenly and you will be left at the Windows desktop. Now you can run the game again, and when you load the game, you will be at the point where you saved before the Big Fail occurred.
  2. Hi. I am new to the game, been loving it, and had a great experience I wanted to share. After learning many of the ins and outs of the game, I started a new fresh game I called the "UnTethered Challenge". I wanted to play without ever fabricating a tether line to increase the survival challenge. The game was all I had hoped, and I made extensive use of items that I barely or never used in regular play, such as filters and O2 tanks. Everything was going great until I built my first Rover. I packed up an O2 tank, a small solar panel, a small generator, and then headed out exploring for research. I visited a handful of wrecks before I realized that I was lost. Really lost. I wandered the Terran surface for over an hour, before a realization hit me. Looking to the sky, I suddenly found my answer. I had noted that there is a narrow band of bright stars in the sky, and that the sun and moon traverse this band. I must have been near one of the planet's poles when I looked up, because the band was running nearly parallel to the surface. Thinking back on my few fresh new game starts, the band had always been running perpendicular to the surface, so I suppose that starting bases are placed on the planet's meridian. Now I knew how to get home: just point my rover either north or south and drive until the band passed directly over head, and then change course to either east or west until I ran into my starting base. I am sure that this is not new to most of you, but it was a great time for a new player figuring it out!
  3. Ideia is just to locate a friend by the string, actualy each player need to have different color and if he r attached in string then u can ask for position (something like that) and string will lead you to friend (something like energy path in string) Heres a tip and thats give me this idea, when ur friend is mining and u dont know his position the simple way to get there is aks him to use energy (deforming tool) and u will follow the energy line in string ;b In first image u can see the line forming by dreaning energy, when u want to locate a friend instead o yellow should show his color (green, red, purple, and others if need) Second image is what i expect (yes, i madei this in paint lol :b)
  4. Here is a video I made to make a Power Generator. Its pretty simple, but VERY helpful, all it takes is a rover or truck and some solar panels or wind vanes.

    How you delete a save

So i saw a noticeable amount of people was asking how they delete their save-file, this is how: Go into C:\Users\(the name of your PC)\AppData\Local\Astro\Saved\SaveGames > find the save-file you would like to get rid of, you can check on the last time the file was edited which is which. So that you don't accidentally delete your save-file with "that amazing base i grinded on for hours on end" > delete it. As simple as that.
