  1. 1. (Tweak) Beacons appear as colored arrows on compass, It would help players not get lost when they end up turned around and have to circle around the planet until they stumble onto something familiar. -Beacons can only be seen from so far, and even with my moderate navigation skills, I still get lost just because for some reason, the art style makes everything look the same. -If they appear on your compass, finding the way back home or to where you want to be is much more straight forward. 2. (Addition) Mid-Late game/Tier 4 Rover with "All Terrain" Spider legs for easy maneuvering on particularly difficult terrains for wheels and carts. -Ive seen suggested before but Im really fond of the idea and want to show support for it. It seems like it would be a Step in the right direction for humanity. Forget flying cars, Walkers are the transportation of the future! Nothing better than being able to crawl up the side of a mountain(reasonable steepness) with your very own mobile base. -I would imagine it would need to be made of a NanoCarbon Alloy, Silicone, and Steel have roughly the space of an Extra Large Platform C (2 Tier3+1 Tier 4 Slots) sense it'd be a direct upgrade from a Large Rover (1 Tier4 slot). Expensive, but oh so worth it. 3. (Change) Tank controls for rovers in order to rotate on the spot instead of needing to do a three point turn. -It would've saved me many instances of falling into holes I was hanging over if I were able to rotate on the spot, but alas, I end up completely Tanked.

    Sauersoff Update

Sauerstoff Balken Bild: Sauerstoffgenerator:
  3. I've recently come to the conclusion that Astroneer is more fun to play without tethers and a large oxygen tank. I wanted to see how Astroneer would feel if I wasn't constrained to be connected to base by a tether umbilical. So I exploited the system to get me a ton of titanium and built a four oxygen tanks. I recovered the tethers on the western side of my base and decided to venture out using only the oxygen I had stored on my back. First run: ran off in a random direction, decided to climb a mountain, just for the heck of it. Made it to the top of the mountain, there's compound up here. Mine compound and admire the nice skyline. Notice I'm running a bit low on oxygen. Stop mining compound and decide to head back. Slide down mountain, almost kill myself due to lag throwing me off the mountain side. (lag needs fixing). Walk past three resource deposits close to my base which I had never noticed before. Return to base with 40% oxygen. Second run: Walk off in a slightly different direction, find a mineshaft, decide to walk down it, noticed it's an off brance of a mine I've already explored (via a crap ton of tethers). turn around and continue exploring. Make it all the way to a beacon I set down with a rover. Admire the view before I turn around. Come across another mine shaft, I decide to come back later and explore. Skim some oxygen blips from the terrain, which I never do, (just in case). Return to base with 20% oxygen. Third run: return to mine shaft and explore. It's much darker without tether lamps. Carefully examine my surroundings so I don't get lost, which I also never do. decide to mine some stuff, just for the heck of it, though I only have 4 slots. find a couple of research pods and haul back to surface. Skim oxygen blips wherever I see them. Find a third research pod, but notice I'm running low on oxygen, so I ditch it part way through. Beline back to base. Return to base with >5% oxygen. Fourth run: Return to Mine and descend to a deeper layer. Find dynamite auspiciously placed in a spacious cavity and pocket it. Uncover a thruster module, neeto. Find a deceased Astroneer and loot his stuff. Examine a satellite wreckage (why the heck are there satellite wrecks underground?). Discover the tiny bits of spike plants also spike and have a heart attack. F that. Blow them up with dynamite for good measure. Notice I'm running very low on oxygen. Take thruster partway up and ditch it. Get F-ed up by a storm and retreat back into cave. Use filters for the first time out of necessity. Realize they fill up my entire oxygen reserve. Double back to retrieve thruster and haul it back. Return to base with plenty of oxygen. Noting that I can essentially run forever as long as I have compound for filters, I construct one more tank and equip the one I pocketed from the other astroneer, and decide to circumnavigate the globe. Fifth Run: embark west with a total of six oxygen tanks, a solar panel, canister, and a few compound (just in case). In my journey I learn many things. Firstly, the devs have a twisted sense of what passes for alien flora. Seriously, what is this?! Second, the laws of physics need not apply, as mountains can remain stable when their entire base is a hollow cavern. Third, if you encounter a storm at high altitudes, it turns into an F-n meteor shower. F that. (Too nope to get a screenshot) Fourth: I realized, or at least hoped, that the planet orbits are consistent to the world geometry, in other words, if planets rise directly in front of my face, I'm still on the equator. Almost to my surprise, After passing 9 compound deposits, using 4 filters and getting F-ed up by a single metorshower. I see my base icon appear on the horizon, still perfectly due west.; and I gloriously rejoin with my base after 47 and a half minutes of travel, without using tethers. TLDR: I hooked myself up to a ton of oxygen tanks, ignored tethers, and had a blast. Which brings me to my main point. I think Astroneer should move in a more realistic direction regarding oxygen, because Compressed gas doesn't run through slack rope. Spaceship pods don't generate eternal oxygen. Having a larger oxygen tank and not being tied to tethers is liberating. Players will start to pay attention to their surroundings more instead of following the same dotted line when they leave base. And here's my suggestion to do so, adhering to my head cannon. Make standard tank larger, say, 3 minutes of oxygen. Extra tanks give one extra minute, since they are actually a third the size of the backpack tank. Repurpose tethers exclusively for power transfer, whenever you guys get around to the infrastructure update. When the player 'crashlands' on the planet they should have: enough stored oxygen to last an in game day (10 minutes), enough titanium (yes titanium) to make an oxygen scrubber (that is, assuming there is oxygen on the planet, just mixed with toxic trace elements). The oxygen scrubber is a large module and takes a lot of power, but fills tanks very quickly. (finally have a reason to make medium and large oxygen tanks, no?) New measurements of oxygen. S-tank and filters: two minutes Player-tank: four minutes, M-Tank: 10 minutes (one day), L-Tank: 50 minutes The result of this system is that the player become very familiar with the area they have access to, which is actually rather large considering it's a circle radiating out from the base. (three times as much oxygen = nine times as much accessible area). If and when the player makes a new base, it will be a sizable distance away from the first to take advantage of the area of exploration allowed to them. Player becomes familiar with their surroundings and better at planning expeditions outside of their base. And I get to stop wondering why I have an infinite supply of oxygen.
  4. I having trouble finding the "tank" research in the game. While I have fond the tank itself (while exploring) and was able to use it it would be nice to be able to make my own if needed. To the best of my knowledge I have already finished the "Tutorial" section and have found or unlocked every over available research with the exception of filters. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or it's a bug. (BTW, on a side note before I found that thank that I am currently using I had found another, but instead of displaying it's item name it just had "ITEM NAME" with "ITEM DESCRIPTION" under that. I could pick it up and attach it, but I couldn't do anything else with it and it also would not refill when I was tethered.)
  5. Found a deceased astronaut in a cave and what i assume is supposed to be an oxygen tank but its called item type and says item description.

    Tank Building Bug

Hy Guys. Found a bug upon researching the tank in the backpack.
  7. Took a tank from a dead Astroneer I found in a cave, but after the oxygen was gone, it didn't refuel anymore and now when I hover over it, it says tethers.. playing on steam with mouse and keyboard.
  8. Picked up a tank off a dead Astroneer. Couldn't get it to fill with oxygen... because apparently it's not a tank? Steam - PC - 0.3.10153.0 This is a new save
  9. Summary: 119 - Steam - Tank doesn't refill, is labeled as "tethers." Description: After playing for a couple hours, my tank stopped refilling. When I booted up the game today, the issue persisted, but now the tank was labled "tethers." I'm not entirely sure how to replicate the bug. I have a new, functioning, tank, and will update if the same thing happens. I have a suggestion. While I was browsing the interwebs, I stumbled upon a picture. This is a tank/excavation tool. Before I say anything i just was to say that I did NOT make this render and am showing because I feel it need recognition, the maker of this image is Quiznos32; if you want to view the original post click here.
  11. Summary: 119 - Steam - Tank Turned Into Tethers Description: The Oxygen Tank randomly stopped working as one. When putting my mouse over it, its name changed to "Tethers", and is rendered useless. Image attached represents the glitch. 12. So, I have had trouble re-creating this bug, but if I remember correctly, I had an almost full inventory/backpack with the tank sitting in the top left space. (See image) I then created some tethers, as one does. One of the tethers fell out of the backpack upon crafting and the other went into the free space in the backpack. It was at that point I realized the oxygen tank was not filling up anymore. I checked it, and it was renamed to "tethers". It would not supply oxygen nor would it allow me to place tethers. it became useless. So, I stupidly hopped in a habitation pod, saved, and quit entirely out of the game. re-loaded and it was still names "Tethers" and still useless. I was able, however, to create a new Tank, and placed it in the SIDE slot on the backpack. it's still working great, and the old tank is still labelled tethers. So whatever is happening is happening only to that single entity.

    New Spider/walker

Heya, So while I love the rover and truck they are obviously nigh on useless when you leave the first planet either because of the terrain or the lack of gravity. So I was thinking how useful a spider/walker type vehicle would be. It would have the same functions as normal vehicles but instead of wheels it would use legs to step over the boulders and spikes. I think the trade off would be that it would move slower when on flat ground compared to the rover but when on say, the Arid planet, the spider would be a far better choice. Depending on how it was designed (size/elevation) you could also use it for subterranean exploration. Thanks

    Tank became a tether?

While I was exploring a cave in my game, I was making tethers and all that, and when I come back out, I notice my tank now says it's a tether. It won't hold oxygen anymore and doesn't act like a tether either. I have no clue what caused it, but I'm using a keyboard on the steam version, and have no clue how to replicate it. I think I was just swapping things around on the backpack and that happened.

    Item/OxyTank Bug

Bug Description: The bugged item is an oxygen tank. It's name has been changed to 'Tethers', and it is no longer usable. It can be removed, moved, dropped, and picked up. It is incapable of being used as tethers. (Useless item) Cause: Unknown, I was crafting a bunch of tethers at the time, but it was empty while doing so. However my inventory was full, so tethers were dropped while crafting. I do not know if it was the crafting that caused it, or other factors. I did not notice the bug until some time after. (Death from suffocation) Notes: I have an unlisted YouTube video of the bug, and a demonstration of it. I will keep the item in-game to play with an experiment to learn more. I do not expect a fix, or a solution to this. If anyone needs more information, please request it. Video:

    oxygen tank bug

I had both the tethers and an oxygen tank in my backpack. For some reason the tank changed its name to tether, and no longer recharges with oxygen. I added a new tank to my backpack and it works fine. I was in a cave, connecting on and off to a trucks supply of oxygen when the glitch happened.
  17. Had my oxygen in backpack for awhile and was using it without issue. I noticed when I switched to installing it in the right suit socket, it ONLY draws from primary tank. Suffocated with a full secondary oxygen tank lol.
