  1. Finally used Resource Canisters for the first time and I find I can't use them as I'd like too. Normally I would have the Centrifuge, Chem Lab, Small and Medium Printer and as much storage as possible on an Extra Large Platform C. I was hoping to use maybe a couple of resource canisters on the platform but if I have them in output mode they output all their resources onto any spare storage and if I have them in input mode the machines on the platform can't access the resources. Thinking about it, I realize they don't work as they should. Here are 2 examples of the way I've seen them used. I've seen people store lots of resource canisters on platforms and when they need a resource they have to find the canister, take it off the platform, place it on the ground, change it to output mode, take the resources they need, change it back to input mode then finally put it back on the platform. That's ridiculous. You should be able to just walk up to the canister and take the resources you need. I've also seen them used as input to a machine; for instance a copper and aluminum canister on a Large Platform B with a Chem Lab making Aluminum Alloy. Although this works, supplying 1 resource at a time as needed, what's really happening is the canister is trying to output the resource to all available storage but there just happens to not be any. What would be better is if the canister actually supplied only 1 resource as needed. That way you could have more storage on the platform but the canister wouldn't fill them. So my suggestion... At first I thought it would need an extra state; input, output and some intermediate mode; but then I realized all you need is for the output slot to always be full. So when you put the first resource into an empty resource canister it immediately goes to the output slot. This would mean that you would only ever need the input mode as you can take resources from it without changing it to output mode and it would still suck up resources from nearby storage like input mode does. You would no longer need to take the canister off a platform to change it to output mode just to get at the resources and you could use it with machines like printers and chem lab as they would be able to pull off single resources as needed. The only time you would ever use output mode is to quickly empty the canister. So, in summary, I suggest that the input mode of resource canisters be changed so that it always keeps the output slot filled.
  2. I was trying to make an auto machine and I put a medium resource canister (Graphite) into it and as I do that I disable output and at the same time the auto arm grabs the resource and stopped it mid way and now I can’t grab it nor can the arms grab the resource. Edit: It also Glitched the resource canister by filling it with not a full resource
  3. Now that we have big resource containers for minerals, a "Medium Gas Tank" and a "Large Gas Tank" will make for great additions.
  4. While I'm not completely OCD, i do like to simplify my organization and having to move resources around after collecting them across several medium silos can be a tad frustrating, if not tedious. Solution: a resource plug on the top of the medium silo which designates which resource is collected there. The first one would be placed there manually by the player, but after that, only that type will be collected on that silo. if the top plug is empty than anything will go there, but that top plug will only be a designation plug not a collector. Keeps things much more organized without having to collect resources you don't want/need then having to siphon them off.
  5. A late game Tier-1 module made of Nano-Carbon Alloy. Place in widget slot, insert 1 of your desired raw resource, and press the widget key bind. This will consume 5 U of power from the backpack, and send out a pulse that will highlight the desired resource through terrain, up to a set distance. If it needs to be harder to use, it could also consume the inserted resource, but personally I think the power cost and print cost should be sufficient to make it a late-game item.
  6. in the alpha versions you could place a medium storage on the same platform full of a smelt-able material (clay for example) and if the smelter was on it would automatically pull the ores and smelt them then return them to an open location. Apparently this is broken in the last few versions I've seen. to recreate: build an extra large platform c, place a soil extractor on one side of the center, and a smelter on the other side so their backs are together (this is my current set up). place any form of empty storage on the smelter end (couple of medium storage units for example) and some full soil containers on the other end. select clay or quartz and activate the soil extractor. once done I would expect the output to go to the next available storage spot then for the smelter to pull it for processing.
  7. I am on the version 1.2, steam edition. I am on the planet Vesania and am harvesting lithium on a -45 degree slope. As I mine the resources they fall into the terrain and wont appear even if I attempt to uncover them with the terrain tool. I noticed that this doesn't occur if I am facing the opposite direction that I am mining as the resource wont fall into the terrain. I have also included a video clip. Any additional information required I would be happy to add. Astroneer bug 1.mp4
  8. Today I ordered some hematite on the trade platform and I then logged off the game, I came back on an hour and a half later and the trade platform had taken four of my scrap, giving me the other two (from the six) back, but only gave me six out of the eight compound, and compound wasnt even the correct resource I wanted. This could probably be fixed by giving a non-volatile memory variable to the item request of the trade platforms. Awesome game! Thanks for reading this! Good luck in future updates! Thanks! 9. Hello; I could not find an specific thread for my issue but. While exploring Sylva I find myself lacking of some elemental resources (namely Wolframite and Hematite) which are necessary for, at least, the Chemistry Lab and the Trading Platform, as well as the shredders. Which in turn will allow us to access further technologies and tools. How do you work around this? in the Wiki it explicitly states that you might be able to find working Medium Generators while exploring underground but, is there a realistic and tangible possibility of finding wolframite, hematite, or working modules (such as the shredders or the trading platforms)to overcome the natural lack of availability of certain resources in this planet? At least on your own experience during gameplay if you could find ways to work around this. Thank you.
  10. The pictures are date and time stamped in sequence found a vein of lithium on Vesania, mined a bit of it out, but left some untouched. Also left behind 1 to verify the spot, and to see if everything disappears. Went top side which is really just one layer up, saved and exited out of the game. When I came back to that spot, the 4th image is what I saw. Everything I left behind was gone, except for the one unit that was dropped. Included save file, didn't know if it would help. 11. I think I've made a fatal mistake. Flying to the moon with no oxygenator or additional resource (like aluminium). Plus my thruster is out of juice so I can't get back to home. Anyone find any resource on the barren moon so I can fuel a thruster or build an oxygenator so I can use tethers? I'm dreading having to start a new game. I've unlocked a few gates on my homeworld which took ages! #schoolboyerror
  12. 1. mouse/keyboard 2. steam win7/64 3. last night (it was very late, thanks for making such an addicting game) i queued one last plastic resource in my chemistry lab on Desolo, then logged off. when i started the game today, the lab continued synthesizing the plastic. when it was done (DING!), when trying to click the plastic to pick it up, i picked up the chemistry lab instead (not by mistake, the plastic and chemistry lab were one object) i dropped the lab on the ground by mistake, then picked it up again and placed it back on its platform. thinking that queueing another resource might eject the plastic and make it useable, I started a rubber synthesis, which just closed the lab's lock without ejecting anything. after searching for the resource a few seconds i lifted the chemistry lab to find a red "connector ring" without a resource on top of it lying between the lab and its platform. stressed out I Alt+F4'd, hoping i could restart the game (by the time i had only been playing for about 3 minutes). once I had loaded back into the game again, i oddly had to load a save from merely 1 minute ago. back into the game I found the Chemistry Lab lying on its side behind me, with the plastic still inside. after placing it back and queueing rubber again it finally expelled the plastic, only this time it was unselectable and floated slightly above the ground, unmovable until i dug a little hole below it. it now lies there and is unselectable. i noticed one little part of the resource is missing, as you can see on the screenshot i appended. i will try to save and restart the game in hopes to find either a perfectly fine piece of plastic or it gone.^^ Update: after reloading neither of the cases I expected applied. its still not possible to pick it up, but at least now it reacts to outer influences (i can kick it around a little bit by walking over it)

  15. As can be seen in the screenshot, the material icon shows over the backpack... it looks out of place, rendering out of layer?
  16. How come there's no rain? Rain would only make sense on Terran and Exotic, but I think rain/thunderstorms would definitely fit into Astroneer in general. Terran and Exotic obviously have atmospheres. The amount of flora would definitely cause them to form, and there are even clouds. If water exists in a gaseous form, it would make sense to have use for the liquid. They wouldn't even need to effect gameplay in any way necessarily, I just think rain could give the game more life, and a stronger, more natural feel. They would by no means replace the sandstorms already present, they'd be merely a cosmetic feature, another weather event to spice things up. If you wanted to have them effect gameplay, even slightly, there are a few options. the sky could be darker, the ground could be slipperier etc. If water were added as a full blown resource, a rain collection module would be a good way of harvesting it, depending on its actual use, that is. in my other post, I briefly mention the implications of lightning, so actual thunderstorms, with downpour and lightning could make sense.

  18. I've found a few of these items on the surface and just recently decided to winch one back to base. It cant be interacted with or researched, but it has a name. So that would mean it has a use, right? Anybody find these and figure something out?
  19. I accidentally printed something with (A) button, and then quickly tried to stop it again with (A) button. This worked, in a sense. I got my Compound back in full and nothing it being printed. But the printing sound is still on and the 2 bars of energy I lost aren't regenerating. I then tried printing something else. It printed, the printing sound stopped, but now my backpack energy isn't regenerating at all. Videos here: https://account.xbox.com/en-au/Profile?GamerTag=WizardSleeve555
  20. If I try to collect a a resource when my backpack is full by picking it up with RT then pressing X to drop it into my backpack, it says the backpack is full, but then the resource is just left on the map, on its side, and uncollectable. It is then stuck in this positing and does not have a selection ring around it. I have seen this happen 3 times from memory I think you can see them in my profile. I've Shared them with the bug name: https://account.xbox.com/en-AU/Profile?xr=mebarnav The screenshot shows exactly what I mean, with the Compound stuck on its side above a platform slot. I can still add other items to that same slot. Actually I just went to try again after saving last night, turning the game off, then starting a game again today and now I CAN collect the Compound. I'm sure I couldn't last night but didn't capture a video unfortunately. You can also see a similar example with a small solar panel in the video on my profile above. Note that I thought to go and check if I can collect it now, but it no longer seems to exist anywhere. If I see it again I'll provide more evidence.
  21. I have a full backpack. I had Tethers selected in the backpack printer. Then I switched to another item to print. Because my backpack was full there was nowhere for the compound in the printer slot to go. It just went spinning off into the cosmos never to be seen again. This occurred because I had the "Tethers" already selected, which pulled in a Compound resource. Then I filled my backpack by mining Resin. My suggestion would be to never have a resource actually consume a slow in the printer. Only have the printer consume the resource when print is chosen, and not pre-load itself with the resource.
  22. Hello all! First time and first discussion here. I would like to ask everyone what are their thoughts of this topic. I found this game to be one of the best Space games I have played in a while. It is a combination of both accurate and comical. I do want to ask and hope this becomes a reality the possibility of having to not only sustain oneself through oxygen with tethers but the need to eat, sleep and drink clean water. More additions to the habitat will be obvious but it will create a new goal to this game other than the typical; tether, mine, explore, etc. I hope some find this a good idea as well and look forward to your feedback. Thank you!
