  1. Hello my friends! First of all I want to tell you that I see in this game a huge potential. This forced me to spend some of my time to write few of my ideas. I would like to see in the comments what you think about them. English is not my native language, so please forgive me for any mistakes. @SES_Adam I think that you should to take a look at this. List of ideas Crystal Currency Astroneer not expose yourself for no reason. He explores the planet for economic purposes. For the game should be added currency (for example crystals able to mine) for which you would buy schemes. Planet difficulty scale and schemes The planets should have the scale of difficulty. We started on a planet with easy access to basic materials. Along with the progress, we would get better schemes (bought for crystal currency) which would increase the chances of survival on more difficult planets where you can find unique materials. The current system of research would be only to obtain rare materials from alien plants fruits. Weapons: • Energy gun Modification to the terrain tool amending it into a weapon powered by energy. • Energy cannon with seat Energy weapon supplied by energy or power generators, it can be mounted on a vehicle, so the person sitting on the rear of the vehicle can use that weapon. • Sentry gun Sentry gun with two operating modes. -friendly mode, protecing from only aliens -hostile mode, protecing from aliens, players (Excluding friends) Controversy related to weapons/pvp in the game: There should be place for peaceful players and for these one who want some action. We need at least option to have combat. If someone don't want to fight then he don't need to. I think that weapons should be added, but game should not be combat-focused. Simple PVE/PVE • Huge earthworms, aliens similiar to spiders, reptiles, tentacles etc. but they should not be common because life itself in space is rare. • Dark Zones: PVP on some planets where you can find more rare materials. Something like high risk high reward, with a story background that people began to fight among themselfs because they were blinded by wealth, fortune etc. Radar, weather meter Showing incoming storms, meteorite impacts, solar flares, temperatures, wind speed, enemies and raw materials (if drone spotted them). Map I would like to see map similiar to that one in The Division. • Table with hologram (Holo-table) on base which can display collected data from drone or satellite. • Drone that could scan some area from above and send data to holo-table or display it to player. • Satellite that could take a pictures of planet and send data to holo-table. Satellite / Drone OP Controversy: As I said, there should be currency in game so on the start player would not have the money to buy top-tier schemes. For example the satellite would be one of the more expensive things in the game, so player would get it later - on more difficult planets, where the satellites don't make game easier in meaningful way. Drone with different operating modes. Some examples: • standby mode - drone with mounted energy weapon, protecting area from space pirates, alien creatures etc. • tracking mode - would follow and assist the player, for example he could move light objects and follow player to base. • search mode - could scan some area from above and send data to holo table or player. • manual mode - remote controlled drone with camera view If weapon is attached • neutral mode, protecing only if we are attacked (by player or alien) • friendly mode, protecing only from the upcoming aliens • hostile mode, attacking aliens, players (Excluding friends) So for example: -Drone with tracking + friendly mode and mouted weapon will follow player and shot only to hostile aliens. -Drone with tracking mode and attached battery, will follow and charge player. etc. Enviromental hazards Some examples of enviromental hazards and how to deal with them: • quicksands on sandy planets (move on the hoverboard instead of walking) • meteorite impacts on planets with a thin atmosphere (we need radar that would warn us against them / force field on base required a lot of energy) • extremely high or low temperatures (special suits for the specific weather conditions) • high radiation (force field on Astroneer) • lava • acid rain (force field, hide underground) • different types of storms (warning messages on radar) • earthquakes (seismometer that sending warning messages to radar) • solar flares (force field) Exoskeleton (better, faster, stronger) Some objects like a fruits from alien plants and crates are large and heavy, to raise them without the lift character should be wearing exoskeleton. Jet pack and vehicle booster Add the module with jet engines that can be attached to a backpack at the bottom. Make it possible to add same enginees to vehicles allowing increase their speed. I know that is possible to find rocket thruster, but I think that it should be able to craft. Hunger, thirst, sleepiness, temperature, food, farms etc. • add indicators (emoji style) of hunger, temperature, thirst, sleepiness • add machine to produce Soylent Green which can be prepared from organic materials. Make it basic food in game. • add food and farm modules (greenhouse). Remember it is the future: Plants should be different from those that we know today (we need GMO superfood). • seeds should be earned by trading platform, with their help, you can grow more nutritious foods then Soylent Green. • add water (oceans) and ice, we need also module that purifying water (for example from salt). • add different variants of the astronaut suits resistant to specific climatic conditions. How it should look: Astroneer should survive longer without eating than drinking / sleeping. The first symptoms of thirst / starving / sleepiness would be fatigue, then slow death. Instead of the well-known indicators there should be emoji messages. Second habitat but bigger With wardrobe - where you can customise apperance, sleep, keep some food and water supplies, hide from storm. Hovercraft / hoverboard Add a vehicle which hovers above the surface. Should be light and bit faster than rover, but not specialized in moving heavy objects. Rope and grappling hook Causes new possibilities - climbing and attachment of objects. Could be pretty usefull before the player would get a jetpack. Game reward system Add the space capsule with gift (skin, crystal currency, scheme etc.) possible to get three times per week. It rewards hours spent in the game. Small space capsule (ball) would fall around the base. Player could open it in research machine. Music player Listen own music from Documents/Astroneer/User Music like a in GTA series. Miscellaneous (small ideas, fixes) • Possibility to change the brush size • Add module that creates oxygen, because limitless oxygen is bad idea. • Improve driving and change it to WSAD • Add option in settings to look around without pressing RMB • Add option to accept / refuse player who attempts to join the game • Deleting saves from game menu(not appdata) • Make possible to change language in settings • Alien plants should wrap acid instead of poison gas, it does not make sense because the character has helmet. • Don't add intelligent aliens to game, life itself in space is rare. • Add option for naming or changing icons of Beacons This topic is updated version of previous one:
  2. Dear, System Era I have a few ideas that I believe would make Astroneer much more fun. Here are those ideas: First off, I believe that some planets should have water. By that I mean there should be a couple of rivers or oceans. The physics do not have to be anything special or "beautiful." The way this could improve the game is that it would give more life to the planets as well as giving access to more new things to explore. If you were to make it to where you could go under water, for oxygen wise, just make it where you use the oxygen in your suit. However, do not make it where you can go too deep, before starting to die, this reason will be in my next idea. Also, the underwater area can be as simple as can be, just as long as it exists and has some resources. Secondly, add boats, submarines, and planes. These vehichles are not really needed, but they would be cool to have. I can see as to why the planes would be hard to make or get the physics to work, and since you can go into space, planes are not really something that seems like the game would need, but it would be a fun addition. However, the boats and submarines would be a great adittion. The boats do not need to be anything complicated, just a simple sail boat would be nice. The submarine also doesn't need to be anything complicated, just a 1-2 seater that can hold a couple of things as well as fit storage on it. Going down in the sub would allow you to go deeper, and once you pass the depth where you would normally die, you can get out and swim around for a period of time so you can collect resources. This addition would allow more access to resources, being able to explore the world in a different way, and being able to explore the underwater depths. Thirdly, being able to dig through the planet and either reaching the core or just falling into the mantle would be great features. It would also be amazing if you could dig until you either hit the core(depending on your angle) or come out the other side of the planet. How going through the planet would work would be when you reach the other side and come out the other side the game flips you around right-side up. I'm not sure how you would do this, you could make it where there's a system where if the game realizes your falling towards space(not jumping but falling) it will flips you around after about 2-5 seconds. However, it is understandable if you do not do this due to it being buggy or glitchy. Aliens would be an amazing addition. We do have the plants that can kill you, but it would be much appreciated if aliens were added(which I sorta think you were already planning to). Though it would be nice, the aliens don't have to be extremely diverse and with designs that are extremely complicated or never seen before. As long as they're somewhat unique and some of them are hostile. Being able to tame one would be nice as well. This would give the planets more life to it, as well as giving you more to do. Making some of the aliens difficult as well as making some drop resources would be nice. Weapons would be nice as well. Maybe a couple of laser guns and light saber esc swords would be just fine. Using these weapons, you can combat the aliens, as well as fight friends in PVP. This would give you more stuff to do and stuff to screw around with. A nice selection of weapons such as automatic laser guns, sniper rifle laser guns, laser pistols, and light saber esc swords would be a lot of fun. Finally, PVP would be a great addition. To stop trolling just have a way to switch from PVP to a "passive" mode where no one can hurt you, but you can't hurt them. Think about how fun it would be if you could have a fight with a friend with a stadium you created by molding the terrain or sailing on your boats while trying to shoot them. The combat system does not need to be anything flashy. It could be done in a way where you lock on like in "For Honor"(and no I do not mean like the Art of Battle fighting system) when you have a sword, but click a block button(but make it where you have to time it, not just hold it down) or attack button, or it could be just you running at them swinging frantically by hitting the attack button over and over. For the guns, keeping it in third person when you aim, if aiming is added, would be nice(except for snipers, being able to switch in and out of first-person or third while aiming). All of this would allow you to interact with your friends, hold little competitions, and have much more fun in general. Though I do not expect the creators of this game to be able to make all this possible, I personally believe it would make great additions. I honestly don't expect planes to ever be a thing. Oceans and rivers(along with boats and submarines) probably won't ever come either. However, I do believe that these things could give the game more life, things to do, things to explore, and fun to have. Aliens, as well as weapons and PVP would definitely be amazing features in this game. I also do believe that addition of oceans, rivers, boats, and submarines would be great and give much more life to the planets and things to explore in the game. Also, I would like to point out that the character model for the player's hands are extremely flat. What I mean by this is that they are exactly as if they were paper. I have not checked the other characters and my friends did not have the same problem, so it might just be my characters or me only. The character I was using was the one where he had an all white suit, with the tubes connecting the torso to the helmet, and a blue stripe on the helmet. Sincerely, Daniel a.k.a., razorback0305 P.S.   3. So I kinda want to see this game become more expansive with a combat system and perhaps space combat. I thought it could in a sense be better than No Man's Sky. Or even bigger than Ark: Survival
  4. Main Idea 1: PvP PvP combat is something I thought this game could use. If you look at the trello page, they'll eventually add server multiplayer support. I thought having weapons and such would be a fun add-on, but don't add any health bars, I like it this way. Weapon Smith: Have a weapon creator so that you don't just use 1 item in your inventory. Swords: There should be more uses for titanium than just tanks, so use it for swords. Add 1 titanium and 1 compound in the weaponsmith to make a sword. How you implement it to wield the sword is up to you. Guns: I don't think regular guns would fit this world, but laser guns most likely would. You could have multi-part guns that start out with a pistol, but you could add parts such as a scope, larger battery, silencer, etc. You would make this out of a battery, titanium, and compound. Mechas: Enter a vehicle that doesn't have any uses yet, but you can add a small drill, gun, or sword. Pretty much anything you desire. It could be bi-pedal or have wheels. It would be customizable in most ways. Turrets: If you've read anything in this then you'll guess what I'm going to say. A modular turret that needs power to shoot. You can place it anywhere and it tracks any players or monsters which is another idea that I will explain later. Main Idea 2: Buildings and Such Building: There should be ways to create your own building which is created with a room-maker or whatever you want to call it. You would start out with creating a platform, then on that platform, you add floors and more floors which are all made with compound or titanium, if you want more resilient or less resilient building materials. The floors would snap together and create a... floor. You would also have to create pillars before you add walls. Stairs would also be an add-on but customized by making every single step. That is my thought on building, rather than piling a bunch of dirt on top of dirt. Which brings me to my next idea. Multi-material Stacking: Instead of just shooting dirt, you could change the color of the material. Space Stations: This is a topic that I've been building up on. I think it would be very fun to make it so that you can build a space station that would be as customizable as a building. Miscellaneous Ideas NPCs: My friend has been bothering me about needing to fight monsters in the game. He said that it would make the game more interesting. Having aliens or other ways to die than spiky plants or fall damage. I also think it would be very fun to have aliens or whatever that drop items or fart rainbows, basically do anything. VR Support: Using either the Vive or Oculus make it so that you can have full room support or just sitting at your computer. Really, I don't care how you do it. Sleep: I think that you need to sleep after 16 in-game hours, and if you don't, you start hallucinating or something. You need to sleep in a habitat for 30 seconds so it isn't boring to regenerate your sleep meter.

  6. Since this game includes different planets, there could be dedicated genre planets, like a Tower Defense planet with base building and defense. Exploration planets dedicated to exploration and discovery. Settlement planets, dedicated to resource management and establishing and building settlements. Vehicle battle planets, sort of like a "World of Tanks" planets with vehicle only battles, or even a cart battle planet where you can build your own tracks and cart battle with your friends. There could even be PVP planets for people that are into that. All of these would be optional so everyone can play the way they want

    PVP or PVE?

    At the current state of the game, it is very enjoyable with friends (minus the crazy lag spikes all the time, I have a EVGA 1070FTW) but as or right now there is no really HARD obsticals in the game, the cave plants can be pretty easily destoryed and the dust storms, ect. won't affect you after 20 minutes of playing and getting a truck or other vehicle. So I am wondering if there will ever be aliens or other PVE challanges that will affect how you play or defend your base, vehicles, friends. Thanks for reading! -Cry

    Versus game mode

    Hey, So as I am enjoying the game I was thinking of a new game mode that I think could be fun to play to. Here is how it would work : Goal : build a rocket to escape the planet (like in factorio). The rocket would need to develop your base and find some rare components. Players : 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, free for all,... Map : big map but with borders Gameplay : each player would start not too far from the others. As you need to develop your base you have to explore and locate the ennemy bases. Players could build weapons (lasers, missiles, rifles, mines, grenades,...) and attach it to their vehicules or their buildings (for defense). Destroying your ennemy base would slow them down and killing one opponent would made him drop his stuff and respawn at his base. Maybe destroying the main building could lead to victory ? Duration : between 30 minutes to 1h30. Let me know what you guys think !
