  1. Hi, I love Astroneer and have been playing it non-stop Really fun with friends and relaxing. However, I lost my Terrain Tool and can't get it back! HELP!!! Police report: I was on planet Vesania going down into a cave with a tractor (with medium storage connected at front) with 2 connected trailers ( each with their own medium storage), I went to collect a bunch or resources dumped in a little hole i had made. When the tractor trailer was all filled up, I headed back to the top. When i arrived, I noticed that I had a Lithium resource stuck in the slot where my Terrain Tool should be. I went back down to look for my tool but it's no where. WTF? Problem Fixed: Killed myself.... Hope this helps

Landmarks - New Planet Design Idea

Hi Team!! Although beacons are the number 1 way not to get lost I would like to suggest another concept for explorers, landmarks. This is a low priority request but I feel from a design point of view would make the game look far more amazing and also allow players to explore with less chance of getting lost (which is damn easy to do!). I thought the new alien artifacts would do this but they're all the same. Even if you don't go by my idea you could change the look or colours of the various alien buildings instead. I found seeing multiple alien buildings while exploring actually disorientated me somewhat leading to getting lost. Quite the opposite of what was expecting. Create large objects or rare land formations spread across a planet. These can be very spread out and allow players to judge their position without the need of beacons or at least, not as many. Crazy steep mountain formation. Crashed alien ship. Giant crystal formation. Huge plant type structure or tree (life tree from Avatar for example) Floating strange object high in the sky. Volcano or similar structure with smoke, lava or some weird goop coming out of it. etc etc. Sometimes these landmarks dont need to be high. They could be a giant weird hole in the ground with glow stones or weird asteroid sitting in a crater. You could also add rare minerals to these areas if you wish. Landmarks could also be very interesting places to build a base! Overall, something that stands out so a player can somewhat understand where they are from their base. Beacons or no beacons. Cheers team, keep up the amazing work. The new v.1 is amazing.

    Rover Disappeared and Co-op Bug

This one is a 2 part bug that may be connected? Has anyone else experienced vehicles disappearing? I have been playing solo in a new world since the last update, and had created a train of medium rovers to take underground to harvest research and whatnot. After attempts to co-op, which I’ll talk about later, we were a go and discovered that the “drive” rover in the train was gone. Everything else was still attached with the research onboard. Lost the rover, 1seat, power items, and medium storage, as well as the single pin items and tools on that storage. Searched everywhere on the “green level” but only found busted rovers and equipment that were originally down there. We even checked under the actual ground in that spot as things have been known to go submarine lol. Still nothing. Ended up building a large rover (with backwards 3seat attached) to replace what was lost. Tried a co-op game in my world with my brother and after a few attempts to join, he luckily said, “hey what if I create a new game from the menu and see if that brings me to you.” Luckily it did. In multiple attempts, we each tried to invite or host each other but after the host prompt in the top left went away, we were stuck in limbo in some wall/surface. I’m attaching a picture of this. After about 5secs the screen booted back to the “alpha note” prompt that’s shown while the game loads. Once you press ‘A’, you are back at the main space station menu without any saves available. We kept restarting the game to see if it would work, but it wasn’t until he had the aforementioned thought that he came flying in. I had been playing kitties before the co-op tries, and my rover was there. Not sure if it despawned due to the glitches that we fought to get on the same map? Either way just wanted to give a bug report for each situation. Sorry it’s so long, but didn’t know any other way to explain the sequence of issues.

  5. I play on Xbox One and had an issue with having items fall to the unknown when removing from my pack to sit on the ground. I had created “craters” to organize my items until I could build storage tables. 2 or 3 times, while removing an item from my pack to place in the crater, it would start falling into the planet until I could no longer see the item label. Think it may have just been that the item wasn’t completely out of the surface plane when I let go of it.
  6. Hi, last night I played a bit just to try the new version and I realized that this bug happens more often than before. When you move the research pods around, and you happen to release it when it still is underground (clipping through the terrain), the pod will fall under the ground. Every now and then, when I release the pod, it jumps over the ground, but now it just falls down (or at least its more frequent than before) .
  7. Vehicle and or user fall through the map. User often recovers but vehicle is lost. To add to this, upon entering the vehicle, game saved. Exited the vehicle, vehicle fell through ground. User fell slightly then returned to immediate surface. Killed the Astroneer.exe process, reentered game expecting to be returned to the point it had saved when last entering the vehicle but it returned to just at the moment I killed the process.
  8. (Steam version 0.7.0.0) The Research Module when filled with any unknown object wet to be researched, when opened its module menu in order to start its function...(one mouse left click uncover button cap, second click activate green button, but when accidentally pressed following a third click it immediately cancel the research eliminating the current object. Consider adding a 1 to 3 second cooldown so this can be avoided. Also, add to research items, a short description for each.
  9. My fuel was gone and ı stuck in a different planet how can ı go my base? I killed myself but it teleported me the same place...
  10. I am playing Astroneer on Steam with a mouse/keyboard (windows 10) with a GTX 980 SLI configuration. This was a load of a save created prior to the rover update. When I had a rover full of stuff to smelt and research I nearly made it to base when the ground disappeared in from of the rover and I fell down for a long time until the rover began to just hover there. I had to leave the rover which caused my guy to float to the nearest cave and when I made it to the surface I was on the wrong side of the planet as I didn't see the marker for my base in the sky anywhere. Kind of out of luck at this point I'll probably die and I'd be surprised if I ever see my rover again. Also just a recommendation there should be a way to better find your base (if there is a shortcut to make these show up apologies I am not aware of it) when far away the marker is often hidden due to the curvature of the planet which causes me some problems in normal game play. Thank you, Charles
  11. What if, tethers had some kind of flow inside from the source. I mean some kind of darken areas could travel inside from the source of the oxygen (from base, through branchings to the player), preventing getting lost.
  12. Played entire night, 6 hours of true progress, every half hour entered into shuttle to save a game. In the end exited to main menu and switched off a console. Next day switched on console but no saved game exists. If I recall correctly, i don't remember if "game saved" messages appeared when entering into shuttle.

    Must have a compass

I accidently fell in a cave with my rover, hardly got out and now I'm lost. I spent 3 hours (without knowing even the earth is flat or round) to find a way back home but there is no way. This is absurd. Please add some kinda map feature or add a simple compass like Jack Sparrow's; Points directly home.
  14. Hello; I am new to this forum, actually i am new to forums. I don't usually take place in a games development but hack! I love this game. I only have 20+ game hours, so instead of making a suggestion on navigation I would first like to ask people about my problem maybe i am missing something after all Navigating in caves Sometimes (almost always) I dig through a cave in almost 10 - 15 entrances. The bad thing about is that I get lost a lot in those caves and forgetting which thether was leading me to the exit where i left my vehicles. (Thethers everywhere!) Is there a way I can mark my exits but not without beacons? (Waste of resources and there are limited colours) I kind of find navigation in the game a bit hard, since beacons are the only way to navigate except compass. Is there something i am missing? I mean like colorful thethers or placing high landmarks or etc. Thank you all in advance.

    Saved games deleted

I've been playing this game since it came out, didn't play for a while until I saw I missed a couple of updates. Since I started playing again, I've lost my saved games 3 times already. I play on PC / Steam. I see where the files get saved on disk, but once in a while, after entering my based or a vehicule to save, the file just goes away once I exit the game. And of course when I go back in, I don't see my saved game listed anymore. It is rather frustrating to have to backup the saved games to another location every time just in case...

    Multiplayer issue

Xbox One / Version 189 / Online modus Everytime the game crashes I lose all my Items. But thats just when I'm playing online and I'm not the host. The Items just fall to the ground so I could get them back but thats extremly annoying when I'm far away from the sporn point. I have the same problem when I leave the game by my self but in this case I could atleast stuck my Items into a storage. It would be very helpful when the game could remember me and give me my items back when I join the game. Great Game by the way.

    Lost save

Lost maybe 10 hours of work on a save. Yes I entered the pod to save before exiting, and many times entered the rover which supposedly saves as well. I was on the second planet (possibly moon) when I lost it and am back on first one where my rover is half built. Xbox one

    Give me a compass

Yo this game is fun and i am dying to see the other planets. Super peaved that both shuttles i have built can not fly off this starter planet even though i have filled them with purple drank. But the biggest problem i have is that there is NO COMPASS in this game. I could find my way around so much easier with any sort of compass just literally ANYTHING telling me a static direction. Instead i have been driving this truck and rover combo around this retarded planet for 4 hours looking for my home. Wow 4 hours what a noob. No you sister slamming jabroni, I'm not a noob. When i drive away from my base and the sun is rising to my right i know i'm going north. So to get home i either go south or so far north i lap the world and see my base... seems simple doesn't it? Would be if the sun rises in the same forking direction everytime. To make matters even worse getting disconnected or the server drops, the game crashing or whatever the issue is EVERY 30-45 minutes! You have to be kidding me right?!? No i'm not. How in the hell am i suppose to find my way home if i am constantly being disconnected and resuming in random spots where i got in and out of my truck. Give me a COMPASS and all of this cockameymie nonsense could be avoided. Granted all of this could have been avoided if i deleted the save and started over. Would be exactly where i was by now. But it's the principal of the matter at this point. While typing this entire thing out i have noticed the sun has risen in 3 totally different directions and i haven't crashed once while not moving. I know the second i take off and get halfway into the sunset i'll crash again and this just infuriates me. So one more time on an absolutely needed idea/ suggestion hows about a COMPASS. Otherwise i'm gonna have to break out a paper and pen and map this world out by hand. Ragin

    Lost saved game

I bought this game as part of xbox anywhere. on my PC everything is great but once I played it on XBox saves are lost on both PC and Box. This is really upsetting in so many levels to say the least, it's the second time it's happening and progression is everything in this game. It happend twice - twice! how can I restore me lost saves?

    Advocating for no mini-map

Look, I get lost too. But minimaps takes away from exploring. Don't know if any of you all grew up exploring wilderness and landscapes as a kid... but half the fun was just that, getting lost and wondering around. In that vein, minimaps in games destroy that. Whether it's in survival or in pvp centric games, the map auto orientates you and takes away from the freedom of exploration and of getting lost. Around the forums there are many post on people just getting lost and having organic adventures from that; they would be diminished if you were constantly reminded of how to get home. There is a compass built into the game by rotating the camera and clicking on your guy As a compensation, since I feel like if I didn't offer another solution i'd just be part of the problem... That being, a road system would be cool, even just the ability to use resources to make difference colored ground (even if the truck behaved the same on all ground) so you could better (visually) section off your base/paths. You could follow your yellow brick road (or whatever kind of road) way home if you get lost, it would be like leaving breadcrumbs.

    I got lost...and love it

I ventured out last night to get compound and resin before my initial flight. Being an adventurer I strayed off the path a little. Found more caves, came out into some canyons...found a buried shuttle. Ventured more into mountains and got stuck. Refusing to turn back, I dug through a mountain and made my way out. That took awhile, as the spot I was stuck in barely got any sun (mountains were too high)...I had to maneuver the truck just right to get power haha. Now I am completely lost (can't even see my home beacon)! I know my base was North, so I headed that direction...but I think my venture through the mountains took me further North than my home. I'm so lost, and loving it. Good times. I hope in the future they add some cool, rare places and/or things to discover when you venture off the beaten path!

    Recall Rocket

Getting lost: it happens to everyone, and it's a pretty normal part of playing Astroneer. However, because of the way structures work currently, there is no recourse for the lost beyond further wandering. However, given the theme of the game, it seems likely that Astronauts would be furnished with emergency gear; for instance, if they lose line-of-sight to the home base in a sandstorm, or venture too far underground and get turned around. That is why I propose: Recall Rocket. It is a device one can build out in the untamed lands far from any support structures, using only ones resourcefulness and the materials available on site, and would allow intrepid Astronauts to return safely home in an emergency scenario. Launchpad — cost: 1 resin; deploy on ground after sythesizing in suit Recall Rocket — cost: 4 compound; build directly from launchpad (can only be built once; launchpad is destroyed after launch) Launch Function — cost: 1 hydrazine; in order to launch, the rocket must be fueled, and then the function becomes available If constructed with a clear view of the sky, the recall rocket can launch the user into orbit around the current planet only (no option for trans-orbital trajectories), and then land at any destination normally selectable on that planet; at this stage the pilot should be able to see any planetary beacon systems, allowing them to return home with little fuss. The rocket is expended in the process, and the launch pad is not re-usable.
  25. Hi, i got additional orbitters, a truck including attachments and a rover with a second rover behind. I see them floating in orbit. I even see them from my moon. I learned to not place them at a vehicle bay as if i land with a spaceship and there's something in the way it might fly away or fall through planet. If added power access points and attach all vehicles there which looks like it solves the problem for now. P.S.: Windows 10 + Steam
