    long distance interaction and pick up

    Summary: Glitch allows long distance interaction with anything. Description: Many people might be annoyed if this is fixed, but I am still reporting it. Normally you have to be close to objects like a research item, resource block, or a module that you can directly interact with to pick up or use them, however, I discovered that when you equip the terrain tool, you can pick up objects 50 ft. away (rough estimation), pull power cords out, and print objects. If this is fixed, it would be nice if there was an upgrade to the terrain tool to do this for a power cost. Killed by spike pod (the purple and red mushrooms that spear you with red spikes when your to close to them) after which i died and respawned (second death in game) went back to retrieve my items (after clearing the area of pods). After getting my items back i returned to my vehicle and I was unable to attach items to the storage spaces. Also tried to retrieve items from my back back but could not select them. it will allow me to retrieve items that are on the ground or in a storage but will not highlight them when i use my cursor/free look. 4. Any steps that we can take to reproduce the bug on our end is appreciated. A. I don't know exactly how to reproduce the bug (if i can at all). I have tried dying to spike pods again, as well as died and respawned multiple times and in different ways to see if it would fix the bug but the problem still persists. 5. This is only effective in some areas of the map however as it will not allow me to remove or insert items to / from my backpack or vehicle snap points it makes playing the game almost impossible. I have tried recreating the death to see if it would fix the issue as well as restarting the game (not the save file) both did nothing. The problem mainly happens when using the left trigger (aim/cursor mode). Although i would rather not do so i may have to restart the game and delete the file as it seems that nothing has worked to fix the issue at the moment I hope there is enough information here to show the problem and more so to fix it. The game is amazing and with the new updates i cant help but say that the game has only gotten better. I hope that it continues to grow and become an even better game in time (and hopefully with out any bugs)
  3. Summary: Description: Cannot interact (use or enter) rovers or seats, game does not detect key hold. Holding E (default press for terrain tool, hold for use or enter) just toggles the terrain tool even when hovering cursor over seats. The hold-E only functions when hovering cursor over habitat or when astroneer is in habitat. Habitat entry and exit still works. [possibly unrelated] Camera when in habitat now goes to an odd POV, clipping through the terrain below the habitat. zooming and panning no longer work Have tried restart, reload. No change.   4. noticed while playing the newest version there's no way to operate the vehicle bay with a controller. the little blue rings that show you what you can pick up or touch don't appear around the vehicle bay buttons (screenshot is while holding right trigger). it also happens with the tether for a rover: there's no way to link a rover back to base with a controller; you have to grab the mouse to click the transparent blue line. that's only a minor nuisance though, compared to not being able to make rovers or shuttles in the first place if you're playing with controller only.

  6. Backpack 2.0 My idea for a better Backpack. (On Xbox, I haven't played PC so I'm only speaking for console) Currently the backpack system is okay at best. Upon opening it you're greeted by a moving menu, Power cells and an oxygen tank at the top. I love the design, that's not why I'm making this post. I'm here because I hate the interface, the way you interact with the pack is atrocious, (no offence) there is no snapping into position, at any degree that helps. The bag will move around if your character, let's call him Marv, starts to move and there is nothing telling you how much of a resource is left. Lastly there is nothing telling you what an item is without hovering over it. Points to improve (Suggestions provided below) - Interaction - Indicator Bars/Numbers - Movement - Pack staying on screen Points to sustain (Suggestions Below) - Design - Size - Mini printer Points to improve suggestions Interaction So far the interaction with the backpack is slow, unreliable and hard to use. One way to improve this is to make interaction with it more like a menu. A menu that you would open and have the option to cursor over something but also have the ability to use the D-pad/arrow keys to navigate around. Using RT/Enter to select an item while using digital inputs (D-Pad/Arrow Keys) and RT/Left click while using Analog controls (Mouse/Right stick). Another note would be to add harsher snapping to items/buttons while on console, selecting an item on anything using a controller is difficult if you're only using analog inputs. On the subject of selecting items a text bar of what the item is would be a great addition. Nothing bright or fancy, just a small slightly transparent label of what the item is. This option could be turned on or off in the menus. Indicators Indicator bars on items would go a long way, it would give the player a more detailed representation of an items durability. This would be used on Oxygen and Power stored in one of the 8 compartments. Indicator Numbers could be added to the Oxygen tank and Power cell bar. Movement The backpack moves around when Marv moves around and to me this is a horrible thing, it kills the mood of the game when you just want to get an item but the pack continually moves around. The movement can also travel far enough that the words for the printer go off the screen or even the pack itself. Two suggestions here. 1) Restrict movement of the pack to the inner 25% of the display. 2) Make the pack stationary and moveable by the user. (Think your webpage window) Points to sustain Design The design of the 8 slot + 2 utility and printer pack is great, I love the way you guys made it. Size The size of the pack is great, I would not change it at all. Mini printer The printer makes traveling and exploring much easier and the game would almost be unplayable without it. I Tried uploading an example of indicators but it failed so i used dropbox instead What would a post be without a post script (PS) PS, On the main menu with the pods and the logo. The station has a VERY slow descent on it, I have had it open the whole time whole time I was typing this up and just looked back now to realize that my pods are way eaten by the bottom on my monitor. The buttons are completely gone.
