    New survival mode

    Hi, my idea is to make a separated mode named the "Survival mode", where we would have hunger and thirst. Water could be found on the leaves of the big trees and you could drink it straight or pick it up to a separate container named the "Water container". The container would be like a normal dirt container, but would store water, which you can drink. And there also could be a machine that would produce water over time, like a fuel condenser. Food could be made by a special new module that would make food rations from maybe organic stuff? A player could also pick these rations up to take them for exploring. Also a farm could be added, where you would plant crops and when they grow up, you can pick them up and get a straight food ration to the equipment. Farms would also need water to work. When starting a new world, the modules would be in the starter pack. I would love to see that mode in the game. I think it will attract many more players, the casual ones, who just like exploring and building, and the players who like an extra spice to the game. Thank you for reading!

    Survival

    I think all of the people that think that drinking water and food should be added are not thinking straight. Water can be added, but not for drinking. The point of astroneer is to explore and progress in space, not get mad at yourself for not taking enough water and food on a trip.

Add a various amount of different creatures to the game from which you can harvest food and resources from adding new survival elements to the game by needing to eat and drink also add farming to the mix giving that same outcome but to also grow certain resources so they never will run out maybe having some seeds only obtainable on some planets maybe some creature will attack your base so you'll need to add defensive weapons to protect the player and there base.
  4. Stuff in Space is kinda hard to do without a few things. Food, Water and Sleep are all important(in the real world). I think these could be added as a sort of "hard mode". Food So you're kinda hungry and the nearest seven eleven is pretty far away. What can you do? Build yourself a greenhouse! its another base piece but it can be used to make food(no seeds or micromanagement needed, just the building, powered of course). Possibly might consume canisters of water and soil for increased production. It fills up a canister of food which can last maybe a week or two and is consumed over time as it is on you.(the suit automatically feeds u as needed, it sucks it up through the canister connection and tubes it straight to your mouth) Water Need something to drink too. How do u get water on a barren planet that has no bodies of water? An atmospheric condenser! It sucks hydrogen and oxygen out of the air and combines it into water which it outputs into canisters. (could make it come with a couple canisters in case u don't have that yet) Its another building, it just requires power. Or there can be another version that takes water from soil using the mineral extractor. Atmospheric condenser may also have a smaller shoulder or backpack mount version that produces a bit of water(into a canister with water in it already). The suit auto feeds the water as needed over time from the connection on the backpack. A canister of Water could last like a week also. Sleep Middle of the night and just want the sun to come up?(single player) Why not take a snooze in the Stasis chamber? Want to wait it out until there is more food and water produced by your modules? Just wait in the stasis chamber(you don't need food while in stasis). Can also be used to speed research.(input time in stasis, or until morning buttons).(there is no actual interior cell in the stasis chamber. Its basically shaped like a curvy high tech coffin just the size u can lay down in for sleeping(maybe a glass lid if u wanna get fancy). You can tab into or out of it like entering a vehicle. It could possibly work on multi player if all the people are sleeping at once and they click sleep until morning or group stasis(host decides time). Its a permanent attachment to the base(not very mobile). Its also a good place to wait out a hostile storm.
  5. Satellites Satellites allow you to collect solar power from space, collect data (Research / Bytes), and make a Network. Command Module Allows you to connect with your satellite (Network connection needed) Networks Allows transfer of items and data from one connection to another. Can be wired or wireless. Crafting needs Power, Aluminum, Copper, Lithium, and/or Titanium. Uses 1 unit of power for every 4 wired items moved 1 length. One length is the max distance of tethers. Wireless requires Satellite. Different channels allow different things to be connected 2 or 4 channels / satellite. Mods Allow players to make mods in the game. Pretty self explanatory. Hosting System Era Official Server Hosting. 24/7 multiplayer servers allow for faster Research Acid Rain Must dig underground to survive. Sitting in a seat will still slowly kill the player. Backpack Storage (Small Storage) Takes up 2 Slots and gives 4 Slots of storage. Can be applied on a rover, platform, or backpack. Liquids Water on earth. Must drink water to survive. Water can all be found in ice, looking similar to the oxygen pellets in the ground. Food Find food in plants (where organic is), or make a farm. Must eat to survive. Aliens / NPCs Have Factions / NPCs that are like Players. They carry items, you can give/take (trading), have their own habitats, and you can kill them with weapons (once and if added to the game )

    Survival features

    @SES_joe I have some questions about the futur of this game about the survival features : will we have some kinda of food/water/oxygen to survive ? Because this is a survival game, and the first thing we need to survive is oxygen/food and water... Btw great game, continue the good work, I bought it day1 and I love how you are making this game. 5*

    Food Update

    How about a food update, Growing our own food. A new Green Meter right above oxygen (or elsewhere) showing hunger. Grow them in dome like pods that take up as much space as a Small Storage or maybe a bigger dome that takes up as much space as the Big Storage. And maybe a new food processing machine and a machine to create water out of certain materials for the plants. the domes can have small slots to put on water canisters. And readied food can be carried around in a container of some sort taking up one backpack slot or a bigger storage for trucks (maybe as big as the huge battery) .
  8. 1: Tranquillisers (for when hostile lifeforms arrive) When hostile plants and animals arrives it'd be nice to be able to develop some defence against it, however it'd be a shame if the game suddenly fell into the depths of a violent bloodbath, the goal after all is to explore the cosmos and discover new life, not end it... What I think would be a nice solution therefore, would be able to use some sort of tranquilliser or stun device similar to perhaps what a modern day park ranger may use to stop an animal causing any harm. It could however take any number of forms, it could be some sort of device reminiscent of a gun or some form of gas which is emitted to temporarily put the animal to sleep. 2: Hydroponics System (for when hunger is added...) Hydroponics is a rather efficient way to produce food, and it'd be quite a nice module for farming to use. I'd love to drive along the cucumber delivery truck across the surface of Kepler 68B. It's perhaps the most simple of the suggestions. It'd be quite nice to be able to gather vegetation from the surface of the planet to be able to grow in hydroponics as well, it'd add the interesting challenge of finding the most nutritious vegetable on the planet and make vegetation a bit more then just decoration. It might also add a bit more motivation to actually explore 3: Genetics Related Stuff Astroneer is set a bit in the future, so it seems pretty reasonable to assume science in the field of genetics would've improved. It'd be nice to be able to see which family each species of plant or animal ends up in if a wide array of them are added. Tied in with suggestion 2, it'd be quite nice to be able to use a lab module or such to cross breed plants to create ones which are better at producing food, or perhaps achieving the same in an incredibly simplified genetic modification interface... 4: Natural Resources Related Stuff Essentially, a bit more development with natural resources. This could be in quite a few forms, it could be the ability to discover deep oil reserves in the planet via a scanner to be able to use for producing some things out of plastic. Alternatively it could be a very basic little wind system, so that wind turbines are better in some places which would experience wind. I'd then feel motivation to really think about where I setup my additional bases. 5: Mapping System This has undoubtedly been suggested numerous times on this forum in varying ways, but I felt like bringing my view on it to this post too. It'd be nice to have a very basic mapping system, perhaps via a little attachment to your backpack / vehicle which scans the surrounding area. You could open it up, and via colouring would show you the height of the terrain, it'd show your base camp if you have it via a little graphic. You could put on a few various styles of marker onto the map, and it'd show where you are and which way your facing (as well as perhaps where your teammates are?). Then, via some buttons you could turn on/off a few different extra features like a modern GIS map would use. You could then display any discovered energy or oxygen resource fields which haven't been depleted and any recharging oxygen or energy points. The map then may end up looking something a bit like the image below... 6: Water/Liquids This is the general suggestion, and simply put, I'd love to be able to see oceans and rivers across the planets, be it methane ones or our precious dihydrogen monoxide. It'd be lovely to watch the winged pluto cows grazing next to a rushing stream. It'd just add a bit more of an interesting atmosphere.
  9. Hi developers, I really like your game, it is a great fun and I see a lot of potential in it. I have a few suggestions and ideas that I would like to share with you. RESOURCES/RESEARCH - Stackable batteries: I like to have a few big batteries and it would be nice to be able to stack them on top of each other (2-3 batteries) to save space. - Resource Sonar: It would be nice to be able to spot underground goodies from above while driving your truck. Or underground, in a near cave, when you are looking for resources. I imagine it as a little device (similar to a generator), you put it on a vehicle or on your backpack and load it with the resource you are looking for (es: you load refined copper or malachite on it if you are looking for deposit of raw copper mineral). It should beep like a sonar when you are in proximity of such resource. -I would like to be able to see if a research material has tech or goodies inside. If I am looking for a specific tech I would avoid the second ones. FEATURES - Differentiation between astroneers: different characters should have different abilities of advantages/disadvantages. Es: one character could be able to obtain more resources while harvesting, the other could be able to build specific structures (expert) or drive special vehicles or being able to growth organic material to harvest. -Robotic help. It would be nice to have programmable bots to help you in routine task: maintenance of structures and vehicle, organic material colture and harvesting. For instance, it would be nice to have flying drones (and actually fly them) for a quick reconnaissance of the surroundings looking for resources. VEHICLES/TRANSPORT -I would like to be able to move the truck while I am drilling. After a while is boring to get on the crane, drill, can’t reach everything, get down, move by 2 meters, get up again, drill… - When I travel between planets, I want to know when they are reachable before I leave the planet. It would be nice, inside the spaceship, to see from the ground the positions of the planets and the ones reachable in that moment. -Interplanetary gateways. It would be nice if it were possible to teleport resources between planets, after you have constructed the two gateways. -The jet pack. Awesomeness. - Orbital Satellites: Sometimes I get lost on a planet. Beacons help only so much because they do not have names, are easily confused and disappear on the horizon. It would be nice if it were possible to launch orbital satellites around the planet that allow you to geolocalize your position. CHALLENGE -Items, structure and vehicles do not need repair. It would be nice if (at higher level of difficulty) this items required periodic maintenance (depending on usage/weather conditions…) -Food system. It would be nice if, at higher difficulties, one has also to think about feeding himself. The organic material harvested could be used both for energy and food production. You would have to keep food ratio to survive, after a couple of day without food you should slow down and then die. PLANETS - No rivers, lakes or seas in any planet make them a little uniform. It would be nice if there poles and seas. Moreover, aquatic environment could be explorable using specific vehicle (ships, submarines...). - No volcanoes nor signs of seismic activity. It would be nice to actually have earthquakes and lava rivers or geysers… earthquakes may compromise underground caves and create/destroy tunnels and passages. -Load games: please I want to understand better which saved game I am loading. A thumbnail would help. Also possibility of multiple savings on different slots. Keep up the good work! Marco

    Fauna and flora

    In this game we are given several dangerous plants to look out for, ones that throw poisonous gas, ones that protrude spikes, and ones that explode with acid. What this game needs is more helpful plants and even dangerous and helpful animals to give the worlds a spice of life. Giving us more caution and awe over them. These plants and animals should be made to survive specifically to their world and should have more than one meaning and ability. Farming should be implemented as well as things to help with farming. Considering that there would be more danger in the world, there should also be weapons to help defend yourself. I would also enjoy the thought of sharing the world with celestial beings that can aid or inhibit your ability to scavenge the worlds you encounter. All with different mindsets and primitive or futuristic weapons and thoughts. Some defending the planet and some doing the same as you(like a competition). I would also like to have a more pvp and competing game, like larger servers and groups.

    Maybe a long-term feature, but add food need would give much more sense to the flora and unlock new buildings like hydroponic farms or a structure to convert organics in edible food. About the GUI, instead a visible element you could use the same method used by Iosku with his mod iNeed for skyrim, where you ear the stomach grumbling When the character is hungry
  12. multiplayer and aliens Multiplayer: My Idea was to have up to 4 people per world (the four different avatars) and people can only access that world with a special code. mostly for collaboration projects and such. aliens: aliens could be a great companion on a semi-desolate planet, maybe as pets or humaniod ones with extra tech needed for commuinication and/or a mysterious history and and even trading. I personally would like to see alien pets most, because i see you are clearly trying to take a new approach to a space game and think this would be a nice touch of something unique as well. Abandoned alien cities and buildings would be nice if you were to go for an extinct civilization type deal i would like to see aliens most of my suggestions fight mode: an optional mode when creating a world (multiplayer or not) which includes various weapons, armors, and machines to make them. along with hostile aliens food: the best way to a human's heart is through their stomach, so it should be with aliens^ petlike aliens could be tameable by feeding them and humanoid ones more friendly to them and more likeley to trade. I also believe players should be required to find/make and eat food to survive minor stuff: ability to adjust the radius of the vacuum/sprayer tool (preferrably with the mouse wheel). when settings are changed, keep them changed even after exing out set the defeult resolution of graphics lower, otherwise anyone not using a gaming computer will experience intense lag before changing the graphics settings going to moons and other planets would be cool but not super important more stuff in general, everyone likes more

    A bigger look at food

    Hi, this is my first post. It probably won't be the best, but I won't let that stop me from trying. Let's take a look at the role of food in games, then see how it applies in a game like Astroneer. In your traditional combat oriented games, food is a health restore, either instantly returning a portion of the health bar or providing a temporary regeneration effect. Its function is keeping the player alive by using a limited resource in time of need. In MMO type games, usually, the food either provides the aforementioned effects, or it provides a temporary boon of another nature, ranging from increased damage to improved maximum health to damage mitigation or any number of other effects. Then there are survival games. Most survival games, like Minecraft, use a meter to gauge hunger, which provides a boon to the player when it is full, but a debuff of constant health drain when it is empty. By having this feature, Minecraft requires the player to hunt or farm any number of sources, hold space in the inventory specifically for food, or suffer the consequences of not remaining nourished. What I wonder is how food would fit into this game. There isn't enough backpack space to constantly carry around food, and having to look for food all the time on desolate planets would be more of a chore than would be fun in most cases. For the Energy and Oxygen resources, we already have to watch our usage, meaning if we are just starting the game, the player has to act quickly when moving away from the lander in order to get the first resources so they don't suffocate. Later in the game, after the base has been set up, the player can sacrifice a good chunk of their backpack space with batteries, tanks, solar panels, etc. in order to extend their independence from the station. Both resources refill for free; oxygen at the base, energy over time and with the help of generators/solar panels/etc. Food, in the case of having to locate/grow/harvest a resource to keep a meter filled or face death, doesn't really fit in line with the quick treks into the unknown, as it pushes the player to either never wander too far from a food source OR to constantly be looking for another food source. The latter is dangerous, as Astroneers has already reinforced the idea that wandering too far from the base is dangerous without the right tools. In my opinion, food in a game like this is just an unnecessary meter to constantly have to keep topped off. I enjoy the measured care I have to take with my energy and oxygen. They are just short enough meters to make venturing out a calculated risk. The reason Oxygen is mechanically interesting as it is happens because there isn't a need to constantly find more oxygen to fill up the ship. It is a free resource that is quickly topped off whenever one returns to the ship. Air actually behaves more like an expedition timer than a true resource to be gathered. Alternatively, Energy is only consumed when a player uses it, but slowly regenerates when they don't. We can amplify our energy output by adding on a solar panel or wind turbine to the backpack, or tethering up to a base or vehicle that has them equipped. Food cannot provide the sorts of time-restricted meaningful decisions that oxygen and energy currently do. Either food burns so fast that it takes too many inventory spaces to stay alive, or it burns too slow and doesn't have any real impact in the game other than being that one resource that has to be filled up every so often.

I thought that since in the Road-map it said something about hunger/thirst Then I suggest that using the plants that we got now, research it and farming (with unlocks of farming tools) Having a different "vacuum gun" that uses the containers (now fuel, power and plants/organic) that will be put into a farming machine (so filling up a full tank like with the space ships so it can start the process) So each plant has their color and such. About protection or creating a more "friendly" env, one would creative a more "advanced habitat" cost more and looks like the image below. that or a sheild will protect you from storms (but not 100% safe, it got health?) but heat, cold and such, it depends. While both could cost power, for heating in such "advanced habitat" it will cost for light/machines/heating or air flow against over heating. From another game:

    As much as I enjoy this game I would like if some of these features were added into the game. 1. I would like a building mode so you could make a small base which you could build on to and go inside 2. The ability to make a space station with the building tools to have the ability to obtain certain materials from nearby planets or asteroids etc. 3. I would like the ability to have friendly mobs to follow you and feed them organic to grow a farm system 4. If there was a food meter where you would have to eat food to not starve to death.(Eating animals or crops) 5. Ability to build paths and roads for vehicles. 6. Co-Op same console multiplayer, It is just a suggestion but I have some mates who also play the game and when they come over we can't play with each other. It would just be fun to play it with my friends next to me. I hope these will help the game and will be implemented. I think these would be great in the game ?

    The game needs a hunger and farming system. Farming could be done in a grow bed which you add on to your base.
