  1. I suggested this because I love the progress being made with the Drill. Yet, Canisters fill on a rover with a Drill extremely fast so I decided to suggest a Medium Canister. It is a 2 slot version of the Canister (which would be renamed to Small Canister) that has a capacity of 20 regualar Canisters and only works on a rover with a drill. Medium Canister: Capacity: 20 Small Canisters Research Cost: 500 Bytes (open for change) Recipe: 1 Plastic, 1 Ceramic (open for change but I want the player to need the Chemistry Lab before they can make this) Size: Medium You would need, obviously, a way to extract materials from soil collected in these canisters or they would be useless. For this, there should be a module that dispenses this soil into Small Canisters. I might make a 3D model for this later. Research Cost: 800 Bytes (open for change) Recipe: 1 Iron, 1 Aluminum, 1 Copper Size: Large Please let me know what you think.

    Not able to move with drill on

    Hi System Era, I have the most annoying bug, I can’t drive the large rover while a drill is running, like my controls go out the window except for Exit Vehicle and toggle Drill, no steering, no throttle. I play on X-Box, from what I can tell PC is ok and works normally, but X-Box is weird, I’m guessing it happened when porting controls for the X-Box, please fix. thanks in advance, MissionArcher
  3. Hi So, went underground with large rover to mine. Tried to come back up but activating the drill crashes the game. Tried to strip rover but didn't help.

    Detritus

    I would really like to be able to use a drill and crane to break down all the detritus around my area to use as scrap. As you use more and more resources, they become more scarce and I rely mostly on my trading platform when things become frustrating to find. The idea of having a trading platform is really amazing but finding scrap for it is really scarce. I really like the idea of attaching a crane, drill, some medium batteries, starage, and a large shredder on some rovers to go around the cleaning up and picking up scrap.
  5. Astroneer is a great game. I was around way before the 1.0 update and loved the game. The 1.0 update was bettet than i imagined. The terrain, planets, and even the machines looked EPIC But, There are 3 things i think would make the game way better. ROBOTS A little bot could make the game a whole lot cooler. Im not asking for the dev team to make a gigantic terminator planet dissasembler powered by the might of zeus. A little bot (the size of the player) that could recieve commands given by the player (Mine, create a tether line etc...) would make the game really feel like it is generations beyond our current space travel is. The robot could have teirs. The robot could be a vehicle mod (like the mods for the terrain tool) that makes the vehicle do things. to make this not too overpowered the first tier could be 1 zinc and 1 ammonium for the Mod version of it. The mod version of the robot would require a storage (like a medium storage on a small rover). The modification could be given Astronium from sylva and become its own thing (Once astromium is given it consumes the vehicle and astronium and becomes a better bot). I know that a major update has just come out but maybe by the end of the year this could be added. Vehicles Astroneer has a couple vehicles but i think a couple more would be good. A Mod (like the terrain tool ones) that can be added to a vehicle and give it abilities would be pretty nice. By abilities i mean like faster speed, Ability to hold platforms that are not packaged etc. If the dev team does create oceans for planets, a submarine or a boat that can be grounds for a base in the ocean would be AWESOME. These vehicles can be crafted at a Vehicle Bay. Better Drills. the second i learned that the planets core had a gateway chaimber i crafted a drill, attached it to my rover and nose dived into the ground. The drills in the game as of current are pretty useful. The drills make resource gathering more fun when you can just plow through anything like butter. I only have 2 problems with the drills. 1. You cant change the angle that the drill is drilling unless you manuver yourself in that certain way. 2. The drill makes holes that you can walk through by foot but does NOT place concrete (the thing that you can place with the canister and terrain tool). If the drill can change its angle and, the drill can place concrete under it when it in inevitably drills throgh the toof of a cave. The drill should have a Mod slot that can take modifications. For example a Builder Mod that digs holes and places concrete when it drills into a hole/cave.
  6. Hi. I'd love to know if drill will collect soil in future update? I know it's a issue for many players remembering pre-release state, when that was possible. Or was it dissabled for balance and for not overusing soil centrifuge? I'd like to get a clear answer. Will it be possible to collect soil with drill or not?
  7. For the first time since release I made a drill, Strength 3, placed it on the crane, and went drilling on Glacio. This did not trigger the achievement. When I placed the same drill on the front of my Large Rover and as soon as I started tunneling with that, the achievement triggered. So I do not know if it's crane-specific or drill 3 specific, as I cannot try this again, obviously.

    Ideas for Drill Heads

    So I want to make some roads by flattening the ground on my save, but doing them at by hand with my friends would take forever. So, what if we could attach a flatten mod to the dill heads, plop those on a rover, and drive off? I know that the drill already flattens the ground, but we can’t add terrain without using the hand tool. Also, it would be awesome if we could collect all the soil we dig up with those drill heads.   9. I'm noticing that the augments are very dependent on the order you put them on your gun. If you want to use Boost, Wide, and Drill 1, you have to put them on your gun in order of Boost, Drill, then Wide. If you do Boost, Wide, then Drill, when the drill is put on, the Wide mod will turn red, turning the augment off. If you then pick up the wide mod, and put it back on the gun, all 3 will turn green. Not sure if this is intended or not.
  10. Summary: 1.0.4 - Steam - Rover stops responding when drill is turned on Description: Any rover in my game stops responding to input while a drill is turned on in any front/rear slot. Input resumes working when the drill is toggled off. Video of bug: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/260188315913945105/544151203441934336/New_video_Small_2.mp4 In the video I am always holding forward, and half way in I start holding forward and steering, but when the drill is turned on, only the rover's momentum keeps it moving. It will eventually come to a stop and even slide backward if on a hill. There is a workaround that can still make it usable by accelerating, then toggling the drill on and off periodically, so that the rover's momentum will carry it forward while drilling. Its less effective up-hill, of course, so it still isn't ideal.     i managed to get around to smithing a Crane and a drill piece for a large rover, just found out that the canisters dont fill up when digging with the crane attachment like it use to. please fix this one

    Only one Drill at a time

    So my friends and me startet playing a new world yesterday. And we found out that when you have two drills on the same large rover then only one drill at a time can work, the other drill is just making the sound but actually not doing anything.

    Drilling

    I can't remember if I or someone else has suggested this, but what about An attachment for the front of the rovers that would turn them into a subterranean mining vehicle. The idea is you'd have to build the attachment and then build the drill heads to place on it, similar to the crane but could use up to 4 heads depending on rover. The medium rover could use one attachment but the large would require 2, or a larger one (then the smaller couldn't be built onto it) to create a big enough hole for it to drive through. This could be useful for driving through rougher terrain because it destroys everything it goes into within the radius directly in front of the drill, or even straight through a mountain, depending on how steep it is (anything beyond something like 55 degree angle it starts digging instead of driving over). You can even use it to dig straight down if you drive into a hole causing it to point down. It would cause the rover to use more power as you go but it could collect soil and resources that you drive through in a two or 4 slot space that is part of the attachment. Summary... Pros: -Destroys rocks and objects littering ground making for easier travel -Travel can continue in a straight line regardless of mountains -Creates a tunnel large enough for your rover to drive through. -Collects soil and resources for use Cons: -Consumes larger amounts of power while digging requiring extra batteries or power sources to continue. -Permanent attachment rendering front of rover useless for anything else (barring any upgrades in the future) -Can destroy small debris without creating scrap (since scrapper is specifically required to create this) -Once full resources will drop to the ground instead of attaching on additional slots on the rover, this requires semi-frequent stops when traveling through resource rich areas.
  14. Host is on W10 Enterprise, client is on Windows 7 Home. Both versions are on Steam, 0.8.0.0. When the client is using the drill on a crane on the medium rover, the host cannot use their terrain tool (has a wide mod and boost mod on it). Sounds and visuals all work, but no terrain is destroyed and no soil is added to canisters. Attached .webm shows it happening. I can't use my tool while the client is drilling. I try elevate mode, and as soon as drilling stops, I am able to do it. Output.webm

  17. It will be great, if it possible to flatten the ground not only how it done, but in parallel to spheroid with center in a planet core. I like to flatten the ground as far, as i can go. It nice when you can build a good road. )) Now it's impossible, because planet curvature.

    What if there was a type of massive drill you could put on the front of a large rover that could dig tunnels that it could get through? The crane is hard to use and I think a drill module could make life easier for the average astroneer.

    Drill working light

    Hi Astroneers, I've been hitting my head against one 'minor' annoyance I've seen... Currently I'm drilling myself a highway through an incredibly large mountain, why? why not? The only problem that there is is that I can't mount a working light to my drill, which pretty much leaves me in the dark to what and where I'm actually drilling. The drill itself does appear to have some sort of mounting point, but does not accept anything attached to it. Kind Regards, Unrealxs

    Content improvement.

    Drill Needs a mod slot opposite from the collection port, mainly for an attaching worklight. Mineral Extractor Needs to have a larger sediment capacity, denser elements should not take hours to coordinate raw material at the base. The production should still only be 8 at a time though. Base Building I feel that the new platform system is nice, but would benefit greatly if they only allowed for 45° angle adjustment instead of 1°. This would make bases much cleaner. If nothing else add it to the settings menu, as an option for snapping base platforms. Large Storage building. A Rectangular Prism that is 8 Ports high and 2 Ports wide on each of the 4 faces of the prism. Vehicle The vehicle tires should lock into place when there is no driver, or attached to another cart that also has no driver. Park Brake. Allow for rigid tethering between vehicle segments. Camera Settings Menu item that allows adjustment of camera sensitivity(Looking around), or when using the cursor function(LT[X!], Crane Arm, Aimed Hand Tool) User Interface When using hand tool and crane w/ drill a sphere of influence overlay would be helpful. A popup over power objects when they're not generating power and why. Especially when they are in a situation that should call for them to be active. (Turbine Gen.) Less loading screens, One Screen for title and One Screen for save. Allow for pack use in vehicle. A foggy map that is partially revealed by orbiting, and fully revealed by exploring. Opened in pack like the research terminal.

    Two QoL Suggestions

    Greetings! I've been playing Astroneer for maybe two weeks, and holy cow have I been having an absolute blast with it! I must say I think this game has huge potential! That being said, I have two little quality of life suggestions: 1. Augment Rotation Tool Could come default, or maybe it's crafted and attached later on after research. Instead of having to stop and manually swap the augments, players could hit "R" and switch to another augment they have installed within the A.R.T.. This would be a separate inventory from your backpack and I was thinking two slots. So if I had a Wide Mod and an Alignment Mod installed, I could hit "R" to rotate between them or normal mode whilst using the Terrain Tool. Also have the ability to open the A.R.T. and swap out the augments inside. This would just streamline it a bit instead of having to stop what you're doing, open backpack, bring up the Terrain Tool, and pop augments on and off. It would also save a space or two on your backpack! 2. Large Rover + Drill Instead of flipping your rover on rocks and running into those pesky stalagmites, attach the drill to the front of your rover and it will destroy those objects instead. I know vehicle handling (oh god it's so frustrating) is on the roster for a rework, but I believe this would improve driving on the surface or in caves a little bit. Thanks for reading! -Saav
  22. its just a thought, but how about a small railway on which you can build a train, like a rover/truck which you can use for example to create a bigger dig area. you place some nodes with the resign and upgrade it to a railway, then you build a small train with a drill or a bigger drill on it and you can gather along the railway more earth to extract more resources. 2nd thought, since we have upgrades/mods, why not a mod for the drill, to cover more ground or to reach more ground.
  23. When using the drill head on a crane, on a medium Rover, the controls are terrible. The camera will often be pointing 90 degrees to either side of the crane making it very difficult to operate.

    Was using drill and somehow got 1 single piece of compound in my backpack. Cant get rid of it either. Loss one slot.
