  1. The reason I really want to suggest this is because when me and my friend play we like exploring. Although we find it hard to set up connecting bases of operations around a planet. We like going into caves, mining everything we can find. As well as gathering as much research as we can. The problem comes when we get full we either have to run all the way back to the base or if we have our rovers with us we try and get them out of the cave. (I don’t know about y'all but getting the rovers out can be a pain depending on how deep you are, and if you have a smooth path. and if you cave connecting rovers it can be much harder.) My solution is having the ability to have a train system. This way it can make it easier to get from one place to the next fast and easy. (as long as you place the tracks effectively.) This system can work for exploring underground or connecting different bases on a planet together. Pros: -Fast and easy travel -Can hold as much as a truck -Can have multiple carts (maybe max of 3-4?) -Hovers over rails so its smoother then a rover -Has rails so you can set out the exact path to take (with a rover you could accidentally crash into a small ravine or fall in a cave. Thus, having to dig yourself out) Cons: -Expensive (could cost 4 titanium per cart and 2 titanium per set of rails? Making this more of a late game item. Also adding to the grind having to mine more and trading things more so you can get the materials you need) -Only goes from one point to another, no free exploring. (still have to use rovers early game) -More power hungry so your base will have to have sustainable energy. Possibilities: -Could probably have a system of rails connecting multiple points. (instead of point to point it could take multiple routs.) -Rails could carry power to train so along as the base has power your train has power. (unlike rovers where you have to use up a slot for a solar panel, or something to keep it powered.) -Could have different levels of trains. (like the rover/ truck and the small/big shuttle) -Could have a specific platform like a docking station instead of using the vehicle bay (this way the rails don’t get in the way of the ships and the rovers.) -could hold a drill so you someone can dig out a path while a friend sets up the rails. I personally think this would be an amazing addition to the game. Let me know what you think? Would this help you out in gameplay? How would you make it better? All feedback is appreciated The 3D model is a rough concept I quickly came up with, trying to follow the look of the rovers a bit. (concept model can always be changed.)
  2. This is an updated concept to my old one. The reason I really want to suggest this is because when me and my friend play we like exploring. This system can work for exploring underground or connecting different bases on a planet together. Pros: -Fast and easy travel -Can hold as much as a large rover -Can have multiple carts (maybe max of 3-4?) -Hovers over rails so its smoother then a rover and harder to lose -Has rails so you can set out the exact path to take (with a rover you could accidentally crash into a small ravine or fall in a cave. (still have to use rovers early game or to scout out areas) -More power hungry so your base will have to have sustainable energy. Possibilities: -Could probably have a system of rails connecting multiple points. (instead of point to point it could take multiple routs.) -Rails could carry power to train so as long as the base has power your train has power. All feedback is appreciated The 3D model is a rough concept I quickly came up with, trying to follow the look of the rovers a bit. (concept model can always be changed.) This is the updated version of the train based off of the new rovers that came to the game. They can still use some work with the design but this is what i have so far. (all 3D models and textures where created by me Killershadow115) Sorry for the late update been busy. Here is a refined version based on the new rover model they have. I hope they add something like this to the game or if they allow modding I’ll be happy to provide all the models and textures necessary to whoever wants to mod it in, if that time ever comes.
  3. Something that is incredibly annoying in Astroneer is how big and awkward the vehicles are. If you have two bases that are separated by a hilly terrain, then you have to use a rover or a truck to traverse between them quickly, and the hills will cause them to flip. This gave me the idea of the Quad Bike! The Quad Bike would move as fast as a rover, but would be much smaller. It could fit one Astroneer and would have one small attachment point, meant for power. It would store 8 bars (32 units) of power internally, and would use 1 unit of power every 2 seconds. It would have no heavy cable attachment points, but could recharge in proximity to the base as well as in proximity to a tether connected to a power source, similarly to the Astroneer's backpack. It would also have a finite supply of oxygen, indicated by a blue bar at the back. This could be refilled using oxygen crystals, filters, or a tank, which would attach to the lone attachment point. It could also be filled by a tether connected to an oxygen supply. The Quad Bike would be lightweight but would have a low center of gravity, making it very difficult to flip. It would be printed at the Vehicle Bay for 2 Aluminum. What are your thoughts?

    Space station

I think this would be an interesting idea that would not only allow players to expand down on the planets, but in space as well. This station would have 8 individual parts that would be found in 8 different research cubes, and would cost a mix between astronuim and aluminum to make. This station would have multiple uses: 1. To act as a stopping or refuel point for your ships (minor idea) 2. Project a map of the multiple planets' surfaces that you could use to track storms and maybe other natural disasters if any more come in the future 3. Allow discovery of new planets or solar systems outside the vicinity of your own. 4. Reduce the cost of all materials bought from a trade platform on the space station 5. Produce a large amount of electricity for your bases of course this is a sorta cool idea I have myself, but I can see that it may be a bit hard to put in game. If anyone has ideas to add or constructive criticism, feel free to reply.

    More natural disasters thread

As you progress through this game, it can start to feel a bit easy. Sure, this is true for all games, but this game isn't "all games". The addition of more and harsher natural disasters as you move to more distant planets would be an excellent idea, and would provide a bigger challenge to more advanced players, and starters alike. One of my main ideas of a new disaster was the meteor storm, this event would send meteors crashing down from the sky, but the chances for them to fall on your base would be extremely slim. These meteors would carry rescources found commonly in other planets (like coal or resin) , or maybe even research cubes if you got lucky. This would be a starter event meaning it would occur on all planets, but would be an extremely rare occasion. my second idea is earthquakes, these would not occur on the starter planet, but maybe on the moon or farther out. Earthquakes would cause vehicles to bounce around, and also cause stalagtites to fall dealing lots of damage to the player if they got hit by it. On planets on the outer ring, it would cause cause caves to collapse (on a very rare occasion). The earthquake would also have a chance to unearth crashed ships, or other artifacts. lastly, stampedes. This may sound like an extremely strange idea, but I think it would be good on arid planets. In place of harsh sandstorms, there would be stampedes of beasts that would cause any items that were left out to be swept away. If the player was caught out in one of these disasters, it would only take 1-2 hits to kill the player. These disasters could be avoided by settling on high ground.(this is a strange idea, feel free to criticize it as much as you would like, I came up with it on the run) feel free to reply with more natural disaster ideas down below, or critique the current ones, thanks.
