  1. Is your base getting expansive enough that your not always connected to oxygen? Do you think tethers will make your nice flat terrain look ugly? Worry no more! For I have the quick tutorial that will solve all your problems!(or at least fix the problems stated above...) Part 1: The Setup You will need: 1 Narrow Mod, 1 Wide Mod, 1 Alignment Mod, 1+ Soil Canister, Tethers(number will vary), and a Terrain Analyzer with the color of your choice(optional, but looks cool.) If you have not already flattened out your base, I recommend doing so using the Alignment Mod and your Flatten key. Part 2: The Digging/Placing Next, move to the platform closest to the area you want to oxygenate. Equip the Narrow Mod and the Alignment Mod, and dig a hole right up against the platform, about 1.5 Astroneers deep. Now, move into the are you wish to oxygenate, and dig another hole the same depth, but make sure it is within tether distance of the first hole. Continue digging holes until the area is sufficiently covered. Then, place a tether in each hole, right side up. Make sure that all of the tethers are connected to each other. If not, redig the holes in locations that will allow them to connect. Part 3: The Cover-up Equip the Wide Mod, the Alignment Mod, and the Terrain Analyzer(if applicable), flatten the holes over. If the holes are deep enough, the terrain you add won't mess up the tethers. Ta-da!!! Smooth Oxygenated Base!
  2. TLDR* at bottom of the page. I understand the blue in the tether line is supposed to represent oxygen, however ;), what if like the ability to customize the colour of your space suit, allow a player ( once unlocked lets say a ' colouriser' ?) the player can choose the colour of the tether cable or cap ( something to help distinguish it from other tether lines ) this would be extremely useful in cave exploration as a player could mark their path out in lets say Green, a path to a resource deposit ( in a corresponding colour using a preselected/created colour pallet ( of X amount of colours) ) . This I find would help with general aesthetics of the game as it can add a nice little touch of simple detail to an ever-growing picturesque landscape... Suggestion on how to implement for players to use and change the colour variation: #1. Having a 'Dye Machine' Where a player can place an item such as a research chamber ( packaged ) and inputs materials ( carbon for black, compound for grey etc) and the results would be a ' custom skin' of said item I.e having a black and blue layout instead of white and blue - Because dark mode 4life ;) - main reasons for this idea, immersion and making the player work towards the feel of truly having a base that is to their colour scheme. #2. Like the space suit menu, having a Menu in which a player can select the 'general' theme of their items such as: choosing the dark mode ( in which all items ie tethers or research pods have a dark theme ) or a summer theme in which everything has more lighter and neutral tones. - Modification to idea , If instead of having the menu separate from the space suit, instead have it coordinates with the space suit colour scheme ( where applicable) such as choosing a cosmos space suit the players items have a similar texture to the space suit ( i understand this may be very taxing on CPU or GPU resources dependant on the implementation and what texture variations are used ) #3 - The long one, allow the player to manually click ( or whichever way you choose to select the tether or item) and let the player physically select from a colour menu the style of colours ( then for greater ease allow them to select a radius or click and drag ( ie selecting tethers they would like to change the colour and then paste it ( like the CTRl+SHIFT and click technique for selecting files on windows) Thanks for reading, if you got this far :P, Appreciate the thought and consideration really enjoying the game and loving 'the little things' you implement into it to make it more fun and enjoyable. Feel free to use these ideas in however you like. *TLDR: Add coloured tether poles coloured textures for items like the research chamber, the ultimate goal being to #Darkmode Astroneer
