  1. This game is so open ended, that different players will want different things out of the multiplayer, so I'm fully expecting a lot of people to disagree or have different opinions. That's perfectly fine and valid. Personally, I'd love to see persistent servers of a solar system. Setup kinda like Minecraft, where anyone can host one, give out the server information, and have people join. Allow for people to have their own "rules" or settings for the server, like people spawning at random locations or random planets. I know hosting a server for multiplayer in this game might be extremely demanding hardware wise, but it would be a cool option. There's also people that want to see more what No Mans Sky "promised" with their multiplayer, a giant procedural galaxy where everyone played on together, and if there was another player at the same planet as you, they'd seamless show up as an element of surprise and discovery. Having a server run and entire galaxy with tens of thousands of players, even if it's only handling when players interact, seems impossible. BUT I do wonder if you could have everyone on the same seeded galaxy, and when traveling from solar system to solar system, you could end up finding an occupied solar system that you could only land on a planet if the other player was online and accepted. Any planet that a player establishes a habitat on would be claimed by them and you would be unable to visit it without them being online or their permission. The server would only have to track players and what planets were claimed, the state of the planet could be shared peer to be peer, planet data (like bases and the planet being deformed) wouldn't need to be uploaded to the server. The galaxy would have to be big enough that you wouldn't often run into claimed planets, even if someone setup habitats on dozens of planets. The developers could also let you setup a temporary habitat that doesn't make a permanent claim, that allows you to explore and collect resources and leave, but the planet will be reset if you or anyone else comes back to it, (if the developers wanted to be really fancy, they could tell the server to remember there was an outpost at a location and generate a random one at that location when you or anyone else goes back, like the random debris that we already find on planets). Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas? What do you want to see in variations of multiplayer besides co-op?
  2. You know how in "team fortress 2" and other valve games they have server rooms? example: Name | ip address | players | liberty | 12.5004.322| 3/4 | i think it would be easier to play with people if there was a server browser in Astroneer. The server browser should detail the ip address, Name, and players on the server. To connect with friends easier, they should also have a friend mechanic so maybe you can see which servers your friends are on so you may join them.

    Ideas for the game

As much as I enjoy this game I would like if some of these features were added into the game. 1. I would like a building mode so you could make a small base which you could build on to and go inside 2. The ability to make a space station with the building tools to have the ability to obtain certain materials from nearby planets or asteroids etc. 3. I would like the ability to have friendly mobs to follow you and feed them organic to grow a farm system 4. If there was a food meter where you would have to eat food to not starve to death.(Eating animals or crops) 5. Ability to build paths and roads for vehicles. 6. Co-Op same console multiplayer, It is just a suggestion but I have some mates who also play the game and when they come over we can't play with each other. It would just be fun to play it with my friends next to me. I hope these will help the game and will be implemented. I think these would be great in the game ?

  5. My question is... Do i need a good PC to host a multiplayer, because a read that i need a good one, is that true ?
  6. We have been trying for a couple days to start a multiplayer game on Xbox one. We both have the game, and are friends on Xbox. We have tried while in a party and without a party. Invite is sent and accepted, and the game starts to load. On the "this is a pre-alpha version" screen it will continue to load for several minutes, then the music and spinning circle will stop for a minute or two, then resume. After another minute or so it will allow pressing A to continue. Then it just loads the menu to start a new game as if no invitation was used. Inviting player is in the game when sending the invite. Receiving player has tried being in or out of the game, and has tried just joining off the friend's list as well.
  7. I have been playing with a friend yesterday and today. The game seems to crash a quite frequently when we are playing together. When I'm in single player, I haven't had any crashing issues. Not sure if this is just by chance or an actual multiplayer issue.
  8. While we are playing Astroneer , we observe that when making vehicles and driving them, these are bugean, begin to float, send us to the orbit of the planet, get under the ground ... Even on occasions they cause the game to crash. Examples: -Camion with the stone leaves flying just like the car. -Camion and car colliding with each other start to bounce without stopping, which also happens if one of these crashes with a crane module. - Spatial (small) space when landing at times appears a stone in it which accompanies it to all places. A greeting and I hope they fix it soon because in this way you could play cooperative without any problem and make the game much more entertaining, as it is now with these bugs as soon as you use a vehicle that does not host a bad time. Thank you.

    Multiplayer bugs

When I'm playing multiplayer with my friend it eventually bugs out within an hour and the screen glitches. Then when we try to re-join on the same world it ends up glitching within a few minutes and we have to restart our game over and over. Also second player can't place functional tethers
  10. I can host a game just fine and my friend can join me, but whenever I try to join his game, it sends me to the normal main menu with the 'New' and 'Load' capsules. Help!
  11. Hello Guys Everytime i join a friend in multiplayer and i want to choose my astroneer the mouse input doesn't work. I then have to use the mouse arrow keys to select my Astroneer and join the game. I'm using mouse and keyboard and I'm playing the game on PC/Steam. (obviously) I hope i could explain it clear enough.
  12. I've been playing with on my friends world for the past hour or two and every like 20 minutes it'll randomly just dump me back to desktop, sometimes after it does that for me it'll dump him too before he gets a chance to save. My specs: GTX 970 i7 4790k 16GB Ram Windows 8.1 His specs (host): GTX 970 x2 (SLI disabled for Astroneer) i7 6700k OC'd to 4.2ghz 32GB Ram Windows 10
  13. Friend can't join game, repeatedly crashes, seems like from their landing pod not disappearing from previous crash or something. Both GTX 1080. 4ghz, 950 m.2 SSD
  14. As a client, when the host gathers resources they quite often are still visible to you. Sometimes you can find large holes that have been dug out but there is a full deposit of a resource floating around in the empty space. Other times as a host, I've pointed out materials to be gathered like 'do you see this malachite here?' and my friends do not see it when they're standing right next to me, but they can see me gather it into my gun. This of course is problematic when you think you have enough oxygen deposits around you to survive, but they're not actually there
  15. Not sure the intended behavior. But the 'module' you expand off of by using a stack of resin usually expands into a node that can take two stacks of resins to make a platform OR allow you to expand it further. Once I expand it further the node no longs let me turn it into a platform. When i load a game up the expander node in between now accepts two resins again and it will work. Images attached display this behavior.
  16. Tethers seem to break randomly, break as in their connection to one of their adjacent tethers often breaking the chain. This happens when loading I imagine ' chunks' back in. So when i load the game or leave the area and come back is when it has a chance of occurring, never seen it happen when I am next to them. Windows 10, Steam, 1070 GTX, 16 GB Ram.
  17. Only the host is getting the notification of unlocked research.
  18. Certain sounds like the sound of digging aren't being produced on the connected clients computer. Seems to be consistent everytime I am the one not hosting. No issue on Single-player or when I host. Windows 10, Steam, I7, 16GB Ram, 1080 GTX
  19. Sometimes when joining a game you can't select an astronaut via the mouse. I can use the arrow keys and enter key to select. I haven't seen this happen when just loading it up single-player only after joining a multiplayer game. Its happened on two computers. This system is Windows 10, Steam, I7, 1080 GTX, 16 gb ram. The friends computer that also does it is an AMD Quad Core, 770 GTX, Windows 10, Steam, 16 gb Ram.
  20. With the beta 0.2.96.0 version in the beta branch on Steam, playing a game in multiplayer creates an odd glitch. Tethers from players appear and don't disconnect. This happens on my end when I connect to another player's game. On the host, this doesn't happen. Attaching a screenshot of the issue.
  21. Every time I try to load into a game with my friend online the game bugs out trashes then restarts.....
  22. Due to all the crashes lately, my brother and I have found that it has become a huge bother when I crash, have to rejoin him, and am sent back to the original first habitat. Only to be stranded back there without anything, or shuttles. It would be SO NICE, if upon joining your friends game, that you launch and land to the "Last Habitat you Interacted With" in your friend's game. * If your friend is playing a NEW game you never visited, it can send you to the first Habitat. ** If your friend destroyed the last Habitat you had used, it can send you back to the first. -OR- When you join a friends game, you go into 'orbit mode' above the planet your friend is on (the person who started the game being played). Then you can 'pick the bubble' to land at from there while orbiting.
  23. After playing with a friend and building a sizable base (Approximately 7 - 10 different pads and a good amount of tethers in the world), either of us crash eventually and when trying to rec-connect and re-join, the game instantly freezes as soon as the landing pod passes the clouds and the base attempts to load.

    Xbox bug list

Firstly, let me say I got the game yesterday and haven't enjoyed anything this much in a long time. Good work so far! I played the game for several hours in both single and multiplayer on the Xbox with both parties using the controller. A few issues that we came across: In multiplayer only the host can place working tethers. The second player can place them but they will not connect to base or existing tethers. Limits co-op play considerably. There are a lot of texture joining issues on the planet surface which allow in some cases the player to drop through or get stuck. Tether lines tend to break randomly after extending for a distance. The host has cursor control issues when in multiplayer trying to access inventory. (Fixed by holding LT to zoom/target initially before accessing backpack) Building terrain underneath your character often causes you to fall through it, especially if you collide with something above as you rise. Attempting to build a storage unit in the vehicle bay crashes the game. Loading a save game places your inventory items floating behind your backpack. Pickup and replace fixes. Massive FPS spikes seem to be caused by the camera trying to pan through terrain if you turn with the camera in a confined space. There is no way of deleting individual save games on the Xbox, and it's too easy to create a new launch by accident if you are scrolling through the pods. (Once the option of left disappears the focus automatically switches to launch so one extra button press...) When you die sometimes you respawn below the planet surface. Adding terrain beneath or near to your collected items will also cause them to drop through the surface. I know some of these issues are reported elsewhere but I thought I'd list all of the initial finds I came across in one post for convenience. Looking forward to the updates and to see what direction this game goes in! Ri99erz.
  25. Played a multiplayer game tonight with 2 other players, and when they joined my game they could use my tethers for air, but if they placed tethers of their own they wouldn't connect and supply oxygen. If I picked up the tethers they placed and put them back down again the line would connect.
