  1. Loving all the new base building features - I can see an even "brighter future" ahead from them! The black power conduits are a great concept. So now that power can be more widely used - there should be some kind meter of the current total power capacity, with numbers going up and down as power is made/used. This could be a printable device that could be sat on a small platform - and thru the "hidden radio system" in the base (!!!) could transmit this data to the power meter. To further enable the concept of radio - there could be yet another "telemetry device" to print and set on a platform with the receiver on (or already built in) a rover.
  2. Hmm - could there be an attachment to the front of a Large Rover (which has a stock of form of metal or ore), and create the tracks, and lay them down as it goes. Does sound a bit exotic though! :-)
  3. On second thought - what else would a coordinate system be used for - if not for recording locations? The dev's prob already have their own (like Subnautica) internal system - would be nice to make it available to game.
  4. Yep! Knowing where you are or where would be a big help. In Subnautica, there is a constant readout of x-y-z coords - but it is not part of the game! Can't understand why simply having a system to 'know where this is' so you can come back is such a difficult concept to get out there. ANYTHING - just something unique that you can write down and use later.
  5. Greets! Loving the game - with new features is is getting much less boring! One big prob I see is the titles of the various stations and other stationary items is WAY too large! The screen becomes a clutter of text, see-thru items and labs. One is an experienced player much longer than they are a noob - and need the help of the titles and tips. It would be very helpful if in Settings the text could be turned off. If not that - at least cut it back by 20 or 30 points! :-)
  6. I have a second Habitat some distance from the first. Took my truck and 3 rovers to the new home. Truck and one Rover had a removable seat. Kept the rover w/seat aside for short runs to explore. In previous versions, when the Truck started the insane bouncing crap I installed a new seat and it settled down. So tried it again - took the seat off the truck, set it aside, and used the one that was on the rover. AMAZING - Truck has settled down and is working as it should. Just something you can try - no idea if it a 'real' fix - but helped me.
  7. It would be nice if major items could be 'deconstructed' and the materials would go to inventory or on the ground. Then the item could be re-built and possibly get past the bug... The jumping-vehicle deal is pretty bad as you can put a a lot of hours to get the rover/truck only to get the work severely crippled & made useless when you can no longer do long range searches for materials or research items. I'm really hoping this bug can get escalated to a high priority as it is really is a killer.
  8. Thanks for the reply! I will start a whole new game and have hope my vehicles will behave! Also good to know how seats work. In an earlier version, I took the seat off a jumping truck and end up being flown away some distance with it. When I printed a new seat for the truck, it behaved well - so I'm guessing the seat was involved.
  9. As of previous version (before 2/16/17) the Rover and Truck and become pretty unusable with the constant bouncing and flipping - and showing up high in the air. Just wondering before I start a new game if this has been fixed in today's release. Also - seat was not removable from Rover or Truck - think it was before...
  10. Also stuck with this "hilarious" (NOT) bug. IT also seems the seats are no longer removable from Truck or Rover. In the past was able to take seat off, and do the 'fly-away' trick - then come back an gen a new seat... which would behave. Now with seats stuck on vehicles, the game gets pretty unplayable... again.
  11. As of latest version (as of 2-13-2017) still getting the bug where Truck flips when I exit. It can be righted again, but then flips on the next exit. Hope this will be soon fixed as it is pretty much a show-stopper for me. Thing is - you never know when it is going to strike, and hours of play can be lost as there is no way to destruct a bad or bugged truck and start over - short of a whole new game.
  12. Yep - just went back in (for shits and grins) and discovered my missing Rover was way up in the sky! Tried to get to it and the 3-dot marker disappeared into the ground... previous lost vehicles showed their marker and then the markers went away as I ran to them. Game is pretty much unplayable as of this release 2.117...
  13. Have laid back on Astroneer as it seems pretty buggy... but gave it another go. So - just lost YET ANOTHER Rover - insta-evaporate in a cave. Got out to get some POWER and looked around and no Rover in sight! This is the 3rd vehicle I've lost this way. Also the crazy 'jumping vehicle" but is still around... At least I HOPE it is a bug and not a feature. A big PITA to get out of your vehicle and have it do insane flopping and jumping for no good reason. A wonderful game - just not really ready for any serious play - far to easy to loose hours of work thru no error or mistake. The Save System is a bummer as well. There appears to be only ONE current save - and if you restore a game from a week ago - too bad - your current game is now that week old game - No going back! Sorry hard-core Dayz-vets - This pseudo-permadeath is NOT fun. Think it is time to wait for a few releases to go by and see if the game gets a bit more forgiving... even as a pre-release Alfa this is pretty unstable.
  14. Oh - yes - I'm sure they are being pressured from a hundred directions. And I do appreciate the difficulty of putting such a game together. But - we DO need to let them know things that are making playing (even at alfa-level) that are sort of show-stoppers. What ever features may or may not be added - at the LEAST the players current progress SHOULD be salvageable. It is one thing to restart a game and have problems - but there is no way to get back to an earlier version on a repeat basis before s**t hit the fan! :-)
  15. Just went back to my previous save, and not only is the Rover lost in the "void" but I now notice that 8 Storage panels of Hydrazine and Aluminum, Copper and some goodies lying on the ground - are all GONE! I get it that this is an early-alfa - but this sort of thing really makes the game difficult to continue with. That and the very destructive "Save" system... Very discouraging to try and put much effort in the game if for no reason they will just evaporate! Starting over isn't too hard - but does get a bit tedious... Think I may have to step back a bit until a few more releases are done. Nice game, great concept, but really a bit too 'raw' for a paid pre-release. Best of luck!
  16. I'd like to see a save system where the player can do a manual save - which is the one you will go to when the game begins or you exit to the control panel. Then - any "auto saves" that are done during the game would be where you re-emerge when you die. This may annoy the hard-core's - to them I say "just don't use it"! But with the game in it's tender alfa state, it is far too easy to lose a fair amount of work - and possibly not from your own 'bad play'. I've slipped up and was WAY OUT with a truck, something happened and BAM - I was dead and back home - with no possible way other than random exploration to find the lost truck. Had I done my own save (and it is on me to track those) I could have reverted to a time before the disaster. T'would be nice!
  17. Just started playing new release. Had lost my truck and train in a silly slip-up but was warped home... no way to find it. So I just built a rover with seat and solar and went searching for the lost truck. Today started with new release, and was moving Rover slowly in a cave. Stopped to get some Power - got out - and NO ROVER!! WTF? Hope this might be because I brought a prev save in to new release... dunno - but very heartrending. That is a pretty major loss for having "done no wrong" - make it a bit tougher to invest more time in the game - as now I'm afraid anything might just 'go away'. Sigh. Still like the game - but with the "perma-death" style game save system, it is a challenge beyond those of the game itself.
  18. Agree. Some form of Beacon ID would be a big help - even if they were just numbered sequentially
  19. I understand the current system with the Vehicle Bay is bugged such that once you build a shuttle/ship it can't be used for anything else. I'm hoping a fix for this can be given a fairly high priority as there are other nasty side effects. For one - the shuttle/ship becomes the "HOME" location, and this can really throw things off. It would seem a landing pad could be part of a flying vehicle. Once it is constructed, you should be able to move it to some nearby spot, and once set down, the would be it's landing place, and the Vehicle Bay would be freed up. To get around this I created a second vehicle bay and built a spaceship on it (after some truck parts). A shuttle was made on the other. Now the system gets confused as to where 'HOME' is and I've had the shuttle land on top of the spaceship! These sort of early bugs do make the game a bit more difficult to play (space navigation is it's own confusing challenge!) and would be really nice if some of these simpler things could be tuned up before adding new cool features.
  20. Ok - I do 'get it' that is is early Alfa and lotsa stuff doesn't work. But we DID pay for the game and we DO put lots of hours into playing - even at this early stage. It really would be great if we didn't have to constantly start over! Currently the save system is pretty one-dimensional. Very close to a "perma-death' system. Before new cool features are added, I'd hope the save system can be revamped - just a bit. As I've mentioned earlier, Subnautica has a nice simple system. The player does a manual save whenever. That is the point where you reload the game on a new start. Once you are in play and die - you go back to the last location you did a save - sans any loot. This way you can go exploring and if things get too badly munged up, you can quit to the control panel and restart from the current save. I know there are hard-core players out there that think this makes the game to easy - so don't use it! I have a limited amount of time to invest in the game and when a slip of the mouse cause a death - the restart is pretty awful and often you just have to toss all the work you've done and start new...
  21. Somewhat good to hear others have seen this prob. What I did was spawn at the distant shuttle, and when out hunting and LUCKILY found a good source of Fuel. Was able to launch the shuttle back to space and re-land at my home base. Only this time a spaceship was sitting in the vehicle machine, and I landed on top of it! What a mess! Again - with some luck I had put some Fuel in it, and in clicking to get untangled, launched the spaceship! OMG! So this time I saw the home base on the planet, and the spaceship landed on the OTHER vehicle machine, and I was back. There is some serious need for a landing pad for the shuttle/spaceship so we don't have to double up on Vehicle machines, and have a clean place to return. Could be as simple as the base of a small storage unit without the vertical storage sockets.
  22. I managed to get a shuttle, then got a spaceship. Did a short hope with the shuttle, and now preparing the space ship. So to keep the clutter down I took the shuttle up, and landed some distance from my base to get it out of my way. Now it seems whenever I die - the distant shuttle is HOME! Which really sux as it takes a fair amount of grinding to get back to my original base. So I figured I better enter the Habitat at the main base, did a save - exited to desktop and returned to the game at my base. So I thought HOME had been nicely reset. No so Moose-Breath! :-) Was out my truck, managed to get a bit lost and suffocated - and where did I re-spawn? Back at the damn distant shuttle! It seems there are some issues with the Save and where it thinks you should return to on a death. Subnautica has a nice scheme - It requires a manual save which is what you return to when you start the game. When you die - you just go back to the last place you were - minus any loot. This gives a little more leeway for experimenting and learning the game. You can always go the the control panel and restart the current save - not the current death. The scheme in Astroneer is more like a 'perma-death' - really a lot to loose... I've gotten used to it and am working with it - but now having a different "home" to go to when I die is a real PITA! Do hope this is just 'fun effect' of the pre-Alfa release and will get fixed someday.
  23. Loving the game and do understand it IS a "PRE-ALFA" so things will get better. Just hoping the Truck/vehicle physics/movements are also 'pre-alfa' and not an idea of a cute 'feature'! :-) The truck drives like it is on ice and the sudden backflips and other craziness I'm sure are just part of the early code and will be refined as time goes by. ...HOPING! Love the storms and the fact that some pass by in the distance... the game has a great premise and lots of room for many cool gadgets and things... PLEASE - NO PVP shit or things to hunt us/them - there are plenty of those games out there already.
