  1. Much like most parts of the astroneer backpack, the base multitool should be detatchable and craftable. This creates an efficient venue in the future for the introduction of more powerful or specialized variants on the tool, for the purposes of resource gathering, terraforming, potentially combat, etc, that may be attached, detatched, or stored at will. In addition, this could lead to implementation of multiple applications to the multitool, including allowing for the player to attach the tool to their vehicle for mobile resource gathering, much like what partially exists in the form of the drill. As a preventative method for the player losing their starting multitool without means of creating a new one, upon a player without a multitool returning to their habitat pod, their old multitool, if still existent, will automatically reattach to their suit. Should the tool somehow be nonexistent, they will recieve a new basic multitool. Future uses for a modular detatchable multitool include: -upgradeability and interchangeability -attachment to vehicles or to crane arms for efficient mining and terraforming purposes -attachment of the multitool to tethers near renewable veins, allowing for establishment of resource pipelines -potential for future expansion of the tools functionality as the game receives further content

In the current build of the game, the present variety in materials combined with a focus on quick, comparatively inexpensive crafting, while satisfying in the short term, feels limiting to the overall pacing and feeling of diversity to the game. To address this issue while still retaining the games fun, modular feeling, i suggest the introduction of a seperate platform type called the Alloy Synthesizer. The layout of the platform would have a centralized 3x3 arrangement of ports upon which materials may be placed. Should the proper materials be placed in the correct arrangement, upon activation the materials will be consumed and produce a single stack of alloyed material, the purpose of which will depend on future implementations, but likely towards higher teirs of equipment and machinery. The discovery of these arrangements may be found either by experimentation or via research. Implementing a system of this nature would contribute to a feeling of discovery and progress to the player, while simultaneously raising the value of base materials and providing longevity towards their value.
