WARNING: System era does not support this, and any bugs you find are not worth reporting and will most likely never be fixed without modification.
You will need to know basic use of a computer to use this tutorial and you must own the game.
This will unfortunately not work on the Microsoft versions of the game.
Downgrading the game
Put this in your browser to open the console "steam://nav/console"
Go to the steam console and paste this "download_depot 361420 361422 153853163404497165"
Press enter. Steam will now download the files. It will say when it is done.
The resulting files will be at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_361420\depot_361422"
Delete the contents of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ASTRONEER Early Access", and paste the other folder into it (the contents of the folder, not the folder itself)
That should be it. If you would like to backup your saves/config you can go here: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Astro\Saved
If you plan on going back to the latest version, wait for an update or verify file integrity and steam will re-download the newest files.
You can activate the ability to land on other planets by doing the following:
Go to "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Astro\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor" and open "GameUserSettings.ini"
Under "[/Script/Astro.AstroGameUserSettings]", you should see something called "AllowInitialPlanetSelection=False"
Change False to True
If it isn't there, add it
That will let you land on other planets in 0.5.1.0
It does not work in the current version of the game and will bug the game out, so you will have to disable it if you plan on updating.
You can also mess with other settings, but MaxPlayers does not do anything in this or the newer versions.
Can I do this with any game?
Yes, here is the reddit post I used to make this:
