About sonofpern

  1. neat, there was just a streak of them on the 6th of the month, but I'm good either way. I get stupid excited for the updates and i just started collecting broken habitats and spaceships so I'm busy haha
  2. honestly, I would love weekly Vlogs from these guys, even off days that are quiet. I want to get to know the Devs!!
  3. wait, what?! Where is that coming from? I assumed we were to resign any further update to launch....

    True or False

yeah, looks like today broke the recent 6th of the month trend for update release. I need more content! lol

    Is it just me???

also, terrain 2.0 is going to be wildly different from what we have now apparently, so issues like floating tethers etc. should be a non-issue soon. I'm so excited for it!!!

    Is it just me???

For the rovers, I never run with less than 2 unless I'm just exploring, even then 2 is good for grabbing research and other 2-slot items scattered about. It seems a lot more comfortable navigating a 4 rover train around than it used to, but the cost of 4, plus everything on them is really steep now. I worry that it may be off-putting to the more casual players, but it is still early access, so maybe it will round off in the end. The way I look at it isn't just as a work in progress, but merely systems testing.Anyway, I usually do a train of 4 with 1 or 2 shredders. This means a medium storage with 4 small solar and 4 small wind on the front, 2 medium wind up top and 2 or 3 medium batteries. I've been doing this method for a while from doing mobile bases before shredders came around. As for the uncontrollable parking brake, I just take the chair off the rover and then sit in it to wait out a storm. Illogical from an IRL view, but a solution nonetheless. As far as resources and forced exploring, this already fit into my play style anyway. Sometimes I ignored other planets for weird projects on Terra, but not often. I'm actually glad they make it necessary and more difficult, it was getting a little stale after 1000 hours lol and now, with the new resource system and modules surrounding them, I can finally see a fun challenging game emerging from what was before just a fun, artsy zenscape with an hour or two of technical play to open up all the tools. At the end of it all, I try not to judge the balance of the system too much, because we are still unaware of the end result, but it's probably still useful to them to get this kind of feedback since the Devs DO have context that we lack.

    Dirt canisters clogging rover shredder

I tagged Joe Tirado in a tweet about it from my twitter account for my streams so they can see it play out. Honestly, if it's just to prevent people from having unlimited resources from turning soil into resin into canisters into scrap, I'm cool with that.

    Dirt canisters clogging rover shredder

I ran it through a few channels, no response yet. They may have done it to prevent using soil to make backpack items for basically unlimited scrap and forgot to mention it. Power cells I've been able to clear from the large one by feeding another power cell into the other side. It cycles a few times and runs the first power cell down and lets you grab the other one off eventually. It's weird and tricky but better than a half busted shredder on a rover. I don't use the small shredder so I don't know there, shred it and make a new one i guess?

    Dirt canisters clogging rover shredder

I built a new shredder rover and it got hung up on some power cells, kept grinding one and spitting it back out. Now it just wont take anything 2 broken shredder rovers in one save

    Dirt canisters clogging rover shredder

I'm live streaming it right now, if you want to see it, but it seems cheap and shameless to just throw the stream out there Playing on Steam Windows 10 64bit FX 6300 on an M51bc motherboard with 16GB (8 + 4 + 4) overclocked CPU to 4.1GHz GT 710 2GB DDR3 Ocerclocked GPU to 1248MHz 7200 RPM HDD
  11. I've got a shredder on a rover with a large storage, medium battery, some small solar and wind. I put a full canister of soil in and the battery died before it finished shredding it. When the sun came up for the recharge, it didn't finish it. I put in another. It's now stuck and totally clogged. Recharging and draining the rover doesn't restart it. Reloading the save doesn't help. I have no alternative but explosives I think, but I wanted to log it and maybe come up with an alternative solution until a fix.explanation comes through. Up side is my shredder has eyes and it makes a funny rover, just very very useless.

    The Crafting Update - September 6th, 2018

fantastic! got a good stream out, love the new science, progression. Still a few glitches in multiplayer, you can see in video, but the ones that break the game are not showing up yet, just the awkward visual ones so far. Thank SES! I broke the 1200 hour mark on the clock, so I figure thats about 1000 active hours, I should probably send more money haha

    Shredder review

I have a feeling we will see something like this. One thing they were still working on when they streamed from PAX was front mounting the drill head on rovers to dig tunnels or roads or something. Front mounted shredder seems like the next logical step there, maybe one day a multifunctional grinding head to make Krang's earth drill base from TMNT *fingers crossed*

    Shredder review

I like this idea waaaay too much. I don't remember the .10 PAX stream talking much about scrap except for a few hints and clues so hopefully this is/will be what is implemented

    Shredder review

hahaha! Thank you, I needed that. Did I mention I first downloaded it April this year?
