    Where blog?

There Vlog; there castle. Why are you talking that way? I thought you wanted to...
  2. This will just make a new de facto trade item; people will always gravitate to the most bang for their buck. As long as that item is not rampantly and easily available (Astronium?) it will balance nicely with exploration.

@Kantanshi See Above. I gave up when he cited this. I see no reason why the game should be designed for people that don't like the intended game play. It's much like trying to adapt the rules of Baseball for people that don't like baseball, so they like baseball. It makes no sense most especially at this stage of the game development. Broadening the appeal of the game is one thing. Designing the game to please people that aren't drawn to the intended game play is an open ended fool's errand. "I'd be interested in Astroneer more if there were Dwarves, Elves and Dragons. Please add now so that I will play!"

Except that they did remove the trading and have said it "May not make it back in the way you are used to" so since we are both drawing our own conclusions on what a third part is doing and why, all claims have equal value. Perhaps separating yourself from your personal wish list and looking the the development as a whole would assuage some of your doubt.

Because of the impact it will have on people "playing how the game is intended". Please notice the quotes there. Evidence suggests that the Devs feel the same way. See above. The game development is harmed; especially if the game is about exploration/survival and not Commodity Exchange. Getting everything you need from the air certainly does have an impact on how the game develops and therefore how I play the game. Once the game is balanced around the "intended mode of play" absolutely put in a "creative" game mode that gives you access to essentially unlimited resources. Right now such a game mode is not helping develop the game's pacing. This is a game under heavy development, not a finished product. Ranting that you can't sit in a corner and play how you want is extraordinarily myopic.

    My Opinion

This is key. That push you describe is why so many EA games suck. We must respect your right to an opinion, but not necessarily the view stated in your opinion. I respect your right to your opinion, but believe your view is way off target.

I don't see a Dev saying that they are nerfing it because the players wanted it. The closest thing I see is a forum mod admitting that it is a know issue.

You might want to provide supporting documentation. There is a difference between being alerted to the problem by the forums and removing it. And - Removing it because people on the forums wanted it removed. I have no problems being wrong, has been known to happen before.

Of course you can "just not do it". But if it IS in the game the whole "economy" (and by economy I mean the cost of building, amount of resources available for harvesting, etc) must be balanced against it. And that balancing will be harsher on people that prefer to prospect and harvest, which is arguably how the game is "supposed to be played". Better to design the game based on the prospecting and harvesting now and put in a "creative mode" later. The creative mode will always be faster and easier than the prospecting, so set the game for the prospectors and let creative mode do what it wants after the balancing. I'm sure that it will be exactly the same for the creative mode players if done this way; but harsher on the prospectors if hydrazine farming is left in and the game balanced for it.

Is there evidence the devs removed hydrazine trading because people on the forums wanted it? I'm more inclined to believe they took it out to better control the pace of the game.

We're talking about a game in pre-alpha here. IMHO things should be a bit more controlled. We are not talking about the release candidate, we are talking about a game under heavy active development. As such, a consistent environment is practically necessary. Once released, farm all you want. Ignore any mechanic you want. Play any way you choose. But for now, deep in the development process, it is for the better for everyone to be on the same page and try to play a bit more along the line the Devs intend; and with the change to hydrazine it seems evident what they intend. This way the Devs can get a better idea of the pacing of the game and how it moves from early to mid to late game. With hydrazine trading, this pace gets thrown out the window. I think a lot of people are losing site of the fact that this game is pre-alpha.

Multiple game modes are often enough of a headache to manage, let alone manage in a pre-alpha stage. Focus is what is needed. I can see the augments being added as a means to help flesh out the research system more (need more things to research). I cannot see any benefit, at this stage, to enhancing the free form mode of the game. Especially in the light of there being no alternative to the free form style. To test systems and their impact on the game everyone needs to be playing by the same rules or the data is not as helpful. If two independent players are working on getting off the starting planet and Person A is using the Hydrazine trading to get everything they need and Person B "playing as intended" they will have drastically different experiences. Even to go as far as Person A ranting about how easy it is and Person B pulling their hair out trying to find resources you might not ever know why their experiences differ.
